Dragonwilds:Mount

Mount is a mechanic that was introduced with the release of Dragonwilds:Fellhollow. It was highly requested by players who wanted a faster means to travel through Dragonwilds:Ashenfall.

Mechanics

When on a mount, players can travel through terrain faster with a mount, and their stamina is drained shorter when on a mount as well. There are two Mounting version right now in the game: Terrorbird and Magic Carpet. If you are attacked, dealt with damage, or are building up your Dragonwilds:Wither, the mount will vanish.

Types of Mounts

The list below are of the different types of Mounts and their functions:

• Terrorbirds: Terrorbird mounts are unlocked upon completing Dragonwilds:The Wild Hunt. Terrorbirds gives a +200 carry weight, making them good for traveling when gathering supplies.
• Magic Carpet: Magic Carpet are unlocked upon completing the first section of Dragonwilds:Icthlarin's Little Helper. They do not give bonus weight, but do make traversing through Dragonwilds:Umbral Sands easier, and are much faster in the desert. compared to other mounts. It also is lighter, taking less fall damage and higher jumps.

Variants

The list below are of different types of color variant of mounts, their lore and how to obtain them:

Terrorbirds:

• Terrorbird - The nature spirits of Ashenfall serve a purpose, one denied to them by the encroaching Wither. It may seem counterintuitive to have to slay these spirits in order to bind them, but that's what nature is. It's hunt and be hunted. Kill and be killed, life is a perpetual cycle - Everything chained together.
  • This variant is automatically unlocked when completing The Wild Hunt.

• Infernal Blightbeak - This Breed of terrorbird was the bane of most normal human residents. They would raid farms, culling livestock and devouring grain. They would storm through settlements, smashing to pieces anything within their reach. Only the Dragonwilds:Black Knights of Dragonwilds:Dowdun Reach had any success in training them, and only such madmen would even try to.
  • Bought from Dragonwilds:Domri - The Merchant for 9999 Garou Chits.
• Crimson Crybaby - A breed created by a Zamorakian priest who found them far less terrifying than he had hoped. Instead of bringing fear to the masses, these terrorbirds would whimper and sob whenever forced to do any manual labour. He named the breed "crybaby" in frustration, though it remains disappointingly apt.
  • Dropped from Dragonwilds:Red Dragon, Dragonwilds:KotHaar-Kal, Dragonwilds:Kalphite Guardian or found in chests in Umbral Sands.
• Mossbeak HunterTemplate:Sic - While many terrorbirds were bred for speed, the Mossbeak Hunter was bred to persue. Dragonwilds:Wild Knights wouldTemplate:Sic raise them to chase down dangerous prey, tiring their quarry our from their terrorbird's almost limitless stamina.
  • Bought from Death for 2000 Soul Fragments.
• Springdown Runner - The Springdown Runner was bred for the races. It was quick, focused and not easily distracted by various tricks of the watching crowd. While nowadays there's less of that racing instinct, this breed of terrorbird still enjoys a good run around.
  • Dropped from Green Dragons, Zogres, Soulstone Sentinels and chests found in Dragonwilds:Fellhollow.
• Grassfoot Screecher & Leafwood Stride - Druids in Dragonwilds:Brynmoor would rear these birds not as mounts, but as guard dogs for their sacred sites. The terrorbirds were raised to be quick, silent and merciless in their defence of the groves.
  • Dropped from Green Dragons, Zogres, Soulstone Sentinels and chests found in Dragonwilds:Fellhollow.
• Oakfeather Raptor - A green-feathered variant of the terrorbird, popular with the Wild Knights back in the earliest days of Bramblemead. They would raise the raptor from the moment they hatched, so that the bird could imprint on the knight and create a bond of loyalty unlike any other.
  • Bought from Death for 2000 Soul Fragments.
• Coastal Sunbeak - Raised along the beaches and coastal regions, the Sunbeak is a colourful terrorbird variant who enjoyed a more fish heavy diet then most.
  • Bought from Evil Emporium for 2000 Infernal Fragments.
• Summerbellied Wagtail - This friendly breed of terrorbird is so named because they wag their tails in the presence of their handlers. They delight in playful displays of affection, such as jumping up and down, or attempting to chew someone's face off. Oh, how sweet.
  • Dropped from Blue Dragons, Lesser Demons, Elite Black Knights and chests found in Dragonwilds:Dowdun Reach.
• Eclipseborn Sharpbeak - Legends says that this breed of terrorbird appears only during a solar eclipse. They are said to possess magical powers; the exact nature of which varies with each telling. In truth, they can hatch just like any terrorbird does and possess no knownTemplate:Sic metaphysical capabilities.
  • Dropped from Blue Dragons, Lesser Demons, Elite Black Knights and chests found in Dragonwilds:Dowdun Reach.
• Sunkissed Clawfoot - These bright yellow creatures love nothing more than ferreting out strange green herbs with their sharp claws. They enjoy running around plains, making screeching noises.
  • Dropped from Blue Dragons, Lesser Demons, Elite Black Knights and chests found in Dragonwilds:Dowdun Reach.
• Astralbeak Warbler - Named after the Stars, rather than the Dragonwilds:runes, the Astralbeak WarblerTemplate:Sic is a strange beast. On nights where the sky is clear and the moon absent, this breed of terrorbird loves nothing more than to raise its head to the heavens and warble strangely haunting melodies.
  • Bought from Evil Emporium for 2000 Infernal Fragments.
• Zamorakian Pledgesaddle - Popular with the Black Knights of Dowdun Reach due to the dark and sinister colour schemes. Many of the knights would ride into battles atop these creatures, screaming about the power of chaos as they went.
  • Bought from Dragonwilds:Domri - The Merchant for 9999 Garou Chits.
• Scorchsummer Ashbeak - This breed is so named because the breeder's daughter thought they were sunburned when she first saw the chicks. Bright pink and screeching, she immediately put them in buckets of water, only to face the wrath of their mother.
  • Dropped from Dragonwilds:Red Dragon, Dragonwilds:KotHaar-Kal, Dragonwilds:Kalphite Guardian or found in chests in Umbral Sands.
• Applefeather Mosstail - This brightly coloured breed of terrorbird gets its name from the apple orchard where the breed was first reared. The owner of the orchard had little imagination for colour combination, so when he saw red and green together the only thing that came to mind were the apples right in front of him. This is in no way similar to the naming process used by the narrative designers.
  • Dropped from Dragonwilds:Red Dragon, Dragonwilds:KotHaar-Kal, Dragonwilds:Kalphite Guardian or found in chests in Umbral Sands.

Magic Carpets

• Magic Carpet - A carpet, woven from enchanted thread. Summon it to carry you across the desert. Unlike terrorbirds, the carpet will glide smoothly across the desert, showing you a whole new world of sandy sight.
  • This Variant is automatically unlocked when completing a section of Icthlarin's Little Helper.
• Uzzerian Umber - The light umber tone is handcrafted by Uzzer children as part of their daily lessons. The youngsters gather round and work together to weave the complicated pattern throughout the tapestry as a means of teaching them patience as well as some useful life skills. If you look very carefully, you can see where the garou cubs have found clever ways to sneakily weave in swear words, personal symbols and odd little doodles to amuse themselves. This way, each of the carpets is unique, if not entirely desirable.
  • Dropped from Dragonwilds:Tok-Xil in Dragonwilds:Umbral Sands.
• Moonsilk Wave - Legends tells us that this carpet is woven from the silk of the moon spirits of the Umbral Sands. It is said that they create those silken threads only on clear nights when the moon is full and the stars look down and give them permission. These rare carpets, therefore, only appear in times of great peace and tranquility. Traits that the Umbral Sands have not seen in some time.

Trivia

• The first rideable animal in the game being a Terrorbird is a nod to RuneScapeTemplate:'s (RS3) 2016 April Fools joke, when they released the Template:RSL.
• The way the mount is summoned almost resembles the Template:RSL skill from RuneScape with differences being how they are summoned. In RuneScape, you would require materials to summon one, as RuneScape: Dragonwilds just required you to complete a quest.
• The Magic Carpet description has a Disney's Movie Aladdin song, a whole new world, in it.
