Dragonwilds:Velgar/Strategies
More actions
This is a strategy guide page to help players defeat Dragonwilds:Velgar.
Recommended setup
Velgar is a Dragonwilds:Power level 4 regional boss monster, he will be difficult to defeat without wearing power Level 4 or higher gear and being prepared. It is also suggested that you gather enough Sanguine Urns, so you have enough Dragonwilds:Health to survive.
Inventory:
Players should have the following items in their inventory:
- Good Dragonwilds:food with good healing and combination Dragonwilds:perks
- The strongest perk available to you at the time would be the Dragonwilds:Mushroom Kebab, providing 120 Dragonwilds:Health and the Dragonwilds:Fungal Fortitude for 600 seconds.
- Dragonwilds:Infusions drinks
- Ferocious Infusions for Melee fighters
- Relentless Infusions for Ranged fighters
- Arcane Infusions for Magic fighters
Other Consumables and Ammunition
Dragonwilds:Potions, Whetstones, and Dragonwilds:Magical Focus:
- Dragonwilds:Lesser Antipoison Potion provides the Fungal Fortitude perk, which stacks up and helps against Velgar poison attacks.
- Dragonwilds:Lesser Magic Potion if using Dragonwilds:Magic and Dragonwilds:Lesser Attack Potion if using Dragonwilds:Attack, but note that only one potion effect can be active at once, so you must choose between these and the Dragonwilds:Antifire Potion.
- Whetstones if using Dragonwilds:Attack, Dragonwilds:Magical Focus if using Dragonwilds:Magic, and Enchanted, or regular arrow ammunition if using Dragonwilds:Ranged.
Runes
Dragonwilds:Runes to use Dragonwilds:Magic attacks and cast the following spells:
- Dragonwilds:Surge is incredibly valuable for every combat style, as it will not only increase the distance and remove the stamina cost for three dodges.
- Dragonwilds:Tempest Shield may only work for melee and crossbows, but it is still incredibly valuable, as it will enable blocking many otherwise unblockable attacks.
- Dragonwilds:Enchant Weapon: Air increases the attack speed and damage of your equipped melee weapon if using Dragonwilds:Attack.
- Dragonwilds:Enchant Weapon: Fire applies burning effect on enemies.
- Although Dragonwilds:Spectral Arrows primary purpose is to enable arrows to pierce, it also increases their damage done, and is worth maintaining over the course of the fight if using Dragonwilds:Ranged.
- Lastly, don't forget to use Dragonwilds:Internal Alchemy to maintain your Dragonwilds:Infusion and Dragonwilds:Food Dragonwilds:Perks if they are going to fall off during the fight, and use Dragonwilds:Magical Mending to keep your gear ship-shape in the event of your death or while farming.
Gear setup
Preset
Players should equip any level 4 Dragonwilds:armour of their combat choice, as they have the same set effect and stats. Below is a set up of a basic and advanced In the inventory, there is a suggested item to either switch to or use if you prefer them over the ones listed in the equipment or hotbar slots.
Basic Preset
The basic preset is for casual players who are looking for a more basic set up, requiring less resources and materials. This set up will require a timely dodge, parry and attacks to avoid taking too much damage.
The + signs on the items indicates that you should might need more than the number you see below. <tabber> Basic Melee= Template:Inventory |-| Basic Ranged= Template:Inventory |-| Basic Magic= Template:Inventory </tabber>
Advance Preset
The advance preset is for players who are looking to do more damage while tanking enough damage as well, require a bit more resources and material. This set up will still require timely dodges and attacks to avoid going through your Food. This setup is recommended against Velgar's Hard Mode strategy. <tabber> Advance Melee= Template:Inventory |-| Advance Ranged= Template:Inventory |-| Advance Magic= Template:Inventory </tabber>
Strategy
As Velgar is the first true boss to be fought, he can be defeated by one or more players in either Normal or Hard mode.
His main attacks are Claw Slam, Claw Strike, Bite, Head Swing, and Dragon Breath (Poison). He will only attempt to bite or use his claw strike attacks against you if you are within melee range (close range), but can slam the ground to send earthen spikes towards you or use his dragon breath attack to generate a poisonous area in a cone shape from his direction. Each time his health is reduced by roughly 25%, until reaching the final 25%, Velgar will fly up into the sky and rain down poison barrages that will land where there are red-orange circles on the ground. Avoid being within the circles to getting severely damaged as they will sometimes overlap and damage you multiple times.
You will also need to make sure that you time your attacks, dodges, and evasions properly as panicking will cause you to potentially be hit by Velgar's attacks. Another thing to be cautious about is that if you run low on the Dragonwilds:Antipoison potion effect or the Dragonwilds:Fungal Fortitude food perk as Velgar's poison-based attacks will rapidly poison you and make you lose roughly 4 health per second until cured.
Pedestal strategy
Velgar can be easily taken down by just standing on the horn's holder; by standing on it you will evade close combat and ground spikes that do a lot of damage, but you will absorb poison damage, so having the lesser antipoison and food helps. The only time you will need to jump off is to dodge the poison rain, if you're willing to dodge them.
The pedestal will vanish the moment the battle starts, so in order to do this strategy, players will first require to have a lodestone in front of the boss entrance, start the encounter as normal then teleport out of the boss instance by pausing the game and pressing the "X" key. There, they can use the lodestone once again to teleport to the boss entrance, enter it and the fight will begin with the pedestal back. If done this right, the pedestal should reappear and stay.
