"The Red Wings let me open a shop in their new casino because the believed in me. At least, that's what I told myself. They turned down other applicants but they accepted me! That fact has gotten me through this first year: they're psychics, and they had studied me and they knew I could do it! So I knew I could, too.
But I was talking to Irkima the other day... and I guess I was wrong. The Red Wings aren't even great psychics. he says they just knew I was being truthful: I thought I'd be great at selling fashion accessories, and the believed me because I believed me.
Thing is, my self-confidence shattered after the first week. Actually, I was done after my first DAY. I'd never had any other job, and I was awful at this! So why did they let me stay on? Irkima thinks they just didn't realize how terrible I was, or they had bigger problems to worry about... but I've seen them fire shopkeepers before, so I don't buy it.
The boss mantises saw something in me. I don't know what. But I plan to return the favor: I'll keep my show here open even after I get rich and famous! I won't keep running it, of course, but I'll keep my name on the shop... It's the least I can do.

"I know Willem and I shouldn't... we shouldn't be together. Dwarves can't marry non-dwarves and humans normally can't marry non-humans... but listen: I learned about something called a Diplomatic Marriage Waiver. The Council gives them out in cases where a cross-race marriage is in the best interests of humanity. Maybe I can get one, and Willem could come live with me in Statehelm!
There's only two problems: Willem would never want to live in Statehelm, and the Council would never give me a waiver for Wilem, since I'm a nobody and he's not really important in dwarven society. YET. But if I help him, I think I can make him famous enough he'd qualify! And if that doesn't work, I'll think of something else. I have time... Willem says he's staying here until he's 50, so I have almost a decade!
