Minecraft:Nether Wastes

Template:Dungeons hatnote Template:Redirect Template:Infobox biome The Nether wastes or hell is the most common Minecraft:biome found in Minecraft:the Nether.
Description
The Nether wastes is the most common Nether biome and makes up around 36% of the Nether by volume. Unlike other Nether biomes, which tend to generate in large patches, the Nether wastes more often generates in thinner strips, often separating two or more other biomes. In particular, a thin strip of Nether wastes always separates the Minecraft:crimson forest and the Minecraft:basalt deltas, or the Minecraft:warped forest and Minecraft:soul sand valley, pairs of biomes that can never border each other.
The Nether wastes is a barren biome composed of mostly Minecraft:netherrack. It has extensive Minecraft:lava seas with Minecraft:glowstone blobs hanging from the ceiling. Blobs of Minecraft:Nether quartz, Minecraft:Nether gold ore, and Minecraft:blackstone generate in the wastes (where Minecraft:ore is most visible) with the rarer Minecraft:ancient debris found unexposed within the terrain. Minecraft:Gravel and Minecraft:soul sand are found among its coastlines.
Most of Minecraft:the Nether's Minecraft:mobs can spawn here, including Minecraft:ghasts, Minecraft:zombified piglins, Minecraft:magma cubes, Minecraft:striders, Minecraft:piglins, and the occasional Minecraft:endermen. Minecraft:Nether fortresses, Minecraft:ruined portals and Minecraft:bastion remnants are present as well.

Trivia
- Template:IN, if the Nether wastes is used as the biome for Minecraft:Overworld generation, although the terrain is entirely Minecraft:netherrack, no ore is generated (including Minecraft:Nether quartz ore, Minecraft:Nether gold ore, Minecraft:ancient debris, etc.). Caverns and lakes (with red-colored water) still generate. The Minecraft:player is still able to place water in an Overworld Nether wastes biome, but trying to sleep in a bed still causes an explosion.
