Template:Infobox biome A frozen river is an ice topped variant of the Minecraft:river that replaces it in cold regions.

Generation

Frozen rivers generate in the same way as rivers do, forming long valleys below the sea level, cutting through inland terrain, but they only generate in the coldest temperature zones. Like rivers, they can form fjords or dry land depending on the surrounding terrain, and end abruptly far inland. Frozen rivers also replace Minecraft:swamp biomes in the frozen temperature zones.

Sometimes, frozen rivers can generate next to regular Minecraft:taiga biomes, as these are able to generate in the same temperature range as frozen rivers. Frozen rivers often end in frozen oceans, although they can form loops.

Description

In a frozen river biome, the water is completely covered in a layer of Minecraft:ice. Patches of land or river coasts are covered in Minecraft:snow.

Minecraft:Seagrass generates on the riverbed but cannot replace ice, and Minecraft:bushes can generate on land atop Minecraft:grass blocks. The rest of the frozen river biome generates exactly the same as any other biome, however, due to the extended coastlines, Minecraft:firefly bushes and sugar cane are more common, the latter uprooting itself due to the freezing water. When cutting through an ice spikes biome, Minecraft:spruce trees are often placed on land in the frozen river, although the biome itself does not generate them.

Minecraft:Salmon spawn in the water here, as well as Minecraft:rabbits and Minecraft:polar bears in Bedrock Edition. In Bedrock Edition, like some other cold biomes, only Minecraft:strays, skeletons and Minecraft:slimes can spawn at nighttime, as well as Minecraft:drowned underwater.

With Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals, frozen rivers use default atmospherics with a strong cold color grading, making the biome appear colder blue. They use cold sunlight, which appears slightly brighter at dusk and dawn.
