Blindness is a Minecraft:status effect that impairs a Minecraft:player's vision and prevents Minecraft:sprinting and Minecraft:critical hits. It has no Minecraft:potion, but it can be obtained by consuming Minecraft:suspicious stew made with an Minecraft:azure bluet or Minecraft:open eyeblossom.

Blindness impairs a player's vision by surrounding them with a thick black Minecraft:fog, with only the immediate area around them being visible. With Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals, all directional light sources are disabled, making the scene appear as in a cave. All fog types apart from default air fog still use their colors.

The effect also prevents the player from Minecraft:sprinting or inflicting Minecraft:critical hits. However, Template:In, it does not stop an ongoing sprint.

The effect can be removed by drinking Minecraft:milk. Template:IN when education options are enabled, drinking Minecraft:eye drops also removes blindness.

Blindness has no effect on Minecraft:mobs. This can be observed in Minecraft:Survival by having a Minecraft:fox eat suspicious stew made with an azure bluet or open eyeblossom.

Minecraft:Wardens are naturally blind and instead rely on detection via Minecraft:vibrations, smell and touch. This form of blindness is completely independent from the Blindness effect.
