Minecraft:Java Edition 20w11a

20w11a is the sixth Minecraft:snapshot for Minecraft:Java Edition 1.16, released on March 11, 2020,<ref name="20w11a">Template:Snap</ref> which adds Minecraft:nether gold ore, Minecraft:twisting vines and the Minecraft:Soul Speed enchantment.

Blocks

width=32x32 Minecraft:Nether gold ore

• Found in Minecraft:the Nether, at any height.
• Behaves exactly like normal Minecraft:gold ore.

• Another variant of vines found in Minecraft:warped forests.
• Grows upward, unlike Minecraft:weeping vines.
• Can be climbed.

Gameplay

Minecraft:Enchanting

• Added Minecraft:Soul Speed enchantment.
  • A new treasure enchantment only obtainable via Minecraft:bartering with Minecraft:piglins. However if obtained through bartering the book cannot be applied to boots due to a bug.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>
  • Only available on Minecraft:boots.
  • Allows faster walking on Minecraft:soul sand and Minecraft:soul soil.
    • There is a 4% chance that the durability of the boots goes down for each soul sand or soul soil block stepped on.
  • Cannot be obtained from Minecraft:enchanting tables, Minecraft:fishing, or Minecraft:trading. However, can be found in Minecraft:chest loot in this snapshot due to a bug.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>

General

Minecraft:Particles

• Added a new particle type: soul.
  • Used when walking on Soul Sand or Soul Soil when wearing boots with the new Soul Speed enchantment

Minecraft:Tags

• Added the gold_ores block and item tags.
  • Contains gold ore and nether gold ore.
  • Blocks in this tag require an Minecraft:iron pickaxe or better to be mined.
  • Many recipes use this tag.
• Added the piglin_repellents item tag.
  • Already existed in the prior snapshots as a block tag, but now extends to items.
  • Contains soul fire torches and lanterns.
  • Minecraft:Piglins don't attempt to pick up items in this tag.
• Added the soul_speed_blocks block tag.
  • Contains soul sand and soul soil.
  • The Minecraft:Soul Speed enchantment uses this tag to test for which blocks increase speed.

Minecraft:Bells

• Now rings when hit by any projectile.

Minecraft:Campfires

• Now ignites when hit by any burning projectile.

Minecraft:Crying obsidian

• Can no longer be pushed by Minecraft:pistons.
• Can no longer be destroyed by the Minecraft:ender dragon.
• Now requires a diamond or netherite Minecraft:pickaxe to be mined.

Minecraft:Fire and Minecraft:soul fire

• No longer has a Minecraft:breaking animation.
• No longer sounds like Minecraft:wool when broken.
• Now have Minecraft:loot tables.

Minecraft:Potted bamboo

• Minecraft:Model change to remove a useless face at the bottom that caused z-fighting.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>

Minecraft:Smithing table

• Now plays a sound when used.

Minecraft:Snow

• Minecraft:Doors, Minecraft:rails, Minecraft:buttons, Minecraft:torches, Minecraft:pressure plates and Minecraft:redstone can now be placed on a full-block of snow layers.

Minecraft:Soul sand

• Doors, rails, buttons, torches, pressure plates and redstone can be placed on it once again.
• Soul sand with a Minecraft:rail on top no longer slows down Minecraft:minecarts.

Minecraft:TNT

• Now ignites when hit by any burning projectile.

Minecraft:Vines

• Now play a Minecraft:sound when climbed.

Minecraft:Weeping vines

• Now have a Template:Frac chance to Minecraft:drop 1 item, with the maximum increased by 2 per level of Minecraft:Fortune.
• Now play a sound when climbed.

Items

Minecraft:Bone meal

• Can now be used to grow Minecraft:kelp, Minecraft:weeping vines, and Minecraft:twisting vines.

Minecraft:Hoe

• Are now the appropriate Minecraft:tools for mining Minecraft:targets, Minecraft:dried kelp blocks, and Minecraft:shroomlights.
  • Due to a bug, axes still mine shroomlights faster.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>

Gameplay

Minecraft:Bartering

• Minecraft:Piglins can now offer iron Minecraft:boots and Minecraft:enchanted books with the Minecraft:Soul Speed enchantment.

Minecraft:Commands

• Template:Cmd can now be used to locate Minecraft:nether fossils.

General

Minecraft:Tags

• Added Minecraft:twisting vines to the climbable block tag.
• Added Minecraft:crying obsidian to the dragon_immune block tag.
• Added potted Minecraft:warped fungus to the hoglin_repellents block tag.
