Minecraft:Java Edition 21w20a

21w20a is the twenty-second and final Minecraft:snapshot for Minecraft:Java Edition 1.17, released on May 19, 2021,<ref>Template:Snap</ref> which makes tweaks and fixes bugs, most of which relate to Minecraft:axolotl behavior and world generation issues.

Additions

General

Minecraft:NBT format

• Added HasVisualFire tag.
  • Entities with this tag visually appear on fire, even if they are not actually on fire.

Minecraft:Tags

• Added the features_cannot_replace block tag.
  • Contains Minecraft:bedrock, spawners, Minecraft:chests, and Minecraft:end portal frames.

Blocks

Minecraft:Glow lichen

• Now drops the correct amount of glow lichen if there's multiple in one block space.

Minecraft:Rooted dirt

• Tilling rooted dirt with a hoe now converts it into dirt, and pops out Minecraft:hanging roots, to match the behavior Template:In.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>

Minecraft:Structure block

• All invisible blocks are now displayed as small cubes by save mode structure blocks; previously barriers and light blocks would not display at all.<ref>Template:Bug</ref><ref>Template:Bug</ref>
  • Variants of air still all appear identical and are not distinguished.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>

Items

Minecraft:Big dripleaf

• Tweaked the inventory model.

Minecraft:Light block

• Changed the textures of inventory icons to prevent overlap with the stack number.

Mobs

Minecraft:Axolotl

• Now only play dead when in water.
• Can no longer be fed tropical fish, only buckets of tropical fish, as axolotls in real life eat live fish. This also brings it to parity with Bedrock Edition.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>
• When fed with a bucket of tropical fish, it returns a water bucket instead of a bucket.

Minecraft:Llama

• No longer spit at players on Minecraft:Peaceful difficulty.

World generation

Minecraft:Amethyst geodes

• Are rarer.

General

Distance effects

• Fixed a precision loss issue with minecraft:location_check.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>

Minecraft:Narrator

• GUI narration now includes position and usage of hovered or focused element.

Minecraft:Tags

• Added the cave_vines_plant block to the bee_growables block tag.
  • The cave_vines block was already in this tag.
• Removed the tropical fish item from the axolotl_tempt_items item tag.

Text

• Changed the strings "Chat disabled by launcher option, cannot send message" and "Chat not allowed by account settings, cannot send message" to "Chat disabled by launcher option. Cannot send message" and "Chat not allowed by account settings. Cannot send message", respectively.

Protocol

• While connecting to a server, the client sends a handshake packet with "hostname" and "port" field directly padded with address given in address text field directly, instead of converting them to the real hostname and port.
