Minecraft:Frozen River

From SAS Gaming Wiki
Revision as of 11:07, 6 October 2026 by SyncBot (talk | contribs) (Sync: updated from Minecraft)

Template:Infobox biome A frozen river is an ice topped variant of the Minecraft:river that replaces the river in frozen regions.

Generation

Frozen rivers generate at very cold temperatures when the PV climate parameter falls below -0.85. This means they generate at the deepest parts of valleys in cold biomes. Frozen rivers are slightly more common at higher erosion values and near the coast, since inland regions with low erosion may cause frozen rivers to abruptly end. Despite this, frozen rivers can sometimes form deep fjords with tall cliffs between elevated terrain and Minecraft:mountains.

Frozen rivers often divide higher landmasses, serving as a division between two distinct biomes. They may also form frozen loops or lakes, or meander through flatland terrain. Notably, frozen rivers may border non-snowy biomes like taigas, windswept gravelly hills, windswept forests, and windswept hills, as these biomes can sometimes generate in the lowest temperature zone. When frozen rivers border these biomes or transition into warmer temperatures, edges of the frozen river may be exposed to Minecraft:water and appear melted.

Description

In a frozen river biome, the water is completely covered in a layer of Minecraft:ice. Patches of land or river coasts are covered in Minecraft:snow.

Minecraft:Seagrass generates on the riverbed but cannot replace ice, and Minecraft:bushes can generate on land atop Minecraft:grass blocks. The rest of the frozen river biome generates exactly the same as any other biome, however, due to the extended coastlines, Minecraft:firefly bushes and sugar cane are more common, the latter uprooting itself due to the freezing water. When cutting through an ice spikes biome, Minecraft:spruce trees are often placed on land in the frozen river, although the biome itself does not generate them.

Minecraft:Salmon spawn in the water here, as well as Minecraft:rabbits and Minecraft:polar bears Template:In. In Bedrock Edition, like some other cold biomes, only Minecraft:strays, skeletons, and Minecraft:frostbitesTemplate:Upcoming can spawn at nighttime or during thunderstorms, as well as Minecraft:drowned underwater and Minecraft:slimes on slime chunks.

With Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals, frozen rivers use default atmospherics with a strong cold color grading, making the biome appear colder blue. They use cold sunlight, which appears slightly brighter at dusk and dawn.
