Minecraft:Bucket of mob
More actions
A bucket of mob is an aquatic small Minecraft:mob (a Minecraft:fish, Minecraft:axolotl, or Minecraft:tadpole) or a Minecraft:sulfur cubeTemplate:Upcoming inside of a Minecraft:water bucket or a Minecraft:bucket, obtained by Template:Control a water bucket on each respective aquatic mob or a bucket on the sulfur cube.
Types
There are six (sevenTemplate:Upcoming) types of bucket of mob:
Obtaining
A bucket of mob can be obtained by Template:Control a Minecraft:water bucket on an applicable aquatic Minecraft:mob or Template:Control a Minecraft:bucket on a large Minecraft:sulfur cube. Once a water bucket is used, the mob is picked up, along with the water source block for aquatic mobs. The mob bucket obtained corresponds to the mob picked up.
Usage
Pressing Template:Control with a bucket of mob places a Minecraft:water source block (in the case of aquatic mobs), and spawns the mob itself back into the world, leaving an empty bucket in the Minecraft:player's Minecraft:inventory.
The and its details (such as size or name) are kept. Placing a bucket of aquatic mob in Minecraft:the Nether causes the same Minecraft:particles to appear that generate when a normal Minecraft:water bucket is placed in the Nether, and the fish is spawned alone.
Mobs caught in buckets then released do not despawn, unlike mobs that spawn naturally in their aquatic environments.
If a bucket of aquatic mob is inside a Minecraft:dispenser, the dispenser spawns the mob and water block (if applicable) in front of it upon activation, leaving an empty bucket inside. Dispensers cannot pick up aquatic mobs with water buckets (the bucket is emptied).
Naming
If a bucket of aquatic mob is named a certain name through an anvil, the mob inside displays that name as if it were named with a name tag, making fish, axolotls, and tadpoles the only mobs that can exist in item form, and be named without a name tag.Template:Only Alternatively, if a named mob is captured with a bucket of water, the resulting mob bucket shares a name with the captured mob.Template:Only If a named mob is captured Template:In, the item is called "Bucket of <Name>".
Tropical fish have assigned names depending on their color after they are caught, Template:In this name is displayed in smaller text under the main item name, whereas Template:In the main item name displays "Bucket of <fish name>". Axolotls also have assigned names depending on their growth stage and color after they are caught.Template:Only

Trivia
- When a Minecraft:bucket or Minecraft:water bucket is transformed into a bucket of mob, it actually pushes the bucket texture down one pixel. According to Minecraft:Dinnerbone, Minecraft:JAPPA says this is due to the "weight of the fish".<ref>Template:Bug</ref>
