Smooth sandstone can be mined with any Minecraft:pickaxe. If mined without a pickaxe, the Minecraft:block drops nothing. Template:Breaking row
Despite regular sandstone having hardness and blast resistances of 0.8, smooth sandstone has a blast resistance of 6 and hardness of 2. This is likely due to historical reasons, specifically as a result of hardness being inherited from slab blocks,<ref>Template:Bug</ref> however the "correct"/"expected" values were changed to the "incorrect" values Template:In.<ref>https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/27935763028237</ref>
Natural generation
Smooth sandstone generates in desert Minecraft:villages.

Usage
Unlike Minecraft:sand, smooth sandstone is never affected by Minecraft:gravity.

Smooth sandstone can be placed under Minecraft:note blocks to produce "bass drum" sounds.
Sulfur cube
Template:In development Minecraft:Sulfur cubes have the ability to absorb smooth sandstone, either through picking it up or being interacted with it. This provides the regular/football effect to the mob when hitting it.
