Minecraft:Turtle Shell

Template:For Template:Infobox item A turtle shell is a variant of Minecraft:helmet that is crafted from Minecraft:turtle scutes. It is the third-highest Minecraft:tier of helmet, having the same armor points as golden, copper, iron, and Minecraft:chainmail helmets but with higher durability. When equipped, it grants ten seconds of Minecraft:Water Breathing to a Minecraft:player who runs out of air. It is also a Minecraft:brewing ingredient for Minecraft:potions of the Turtle Master.

Turtle shell effect

While equipped by a Minecraft:player, the turtle shell provides the Minecraft:Water Breathing status effect, allowing the wearer to remain underwater for an additional 10 seconds. The effect immediately recharges after exposure to air. The Water Breathing effect does not activate for other Minecraft:mobs.

Repairing

Unit repair

A turtle shell can be repaired in an Minecraft:anvil by adding Minecraft:turtle scutes, with each scute restoring 25% the turtle shell's maximum durability, rounded down. Two turtle shells can also be combined in an anvil. Both methods preserve the helmet's enchantments.

Armor trimming

It is possible to upgrade turtle shells with trims. This requires a Minecraft:smithing template, a turtle shell, and an ingot or crystal (Minecraft:iron ingot, Minecraft:copper ingot, Minecraft:gold ingot, Minecraft:netherite ingot, Minecraft:emerald, Minecraft:redstone dust, Minecraft:lapis lazuli, Minecraft:amethyst shard, Minecraft:nether quartz, Minecraft:diamond, or Minecraft:resin brick).

These trims have no effect on the gameplay or strength of the armor.

History

Trivia

• The turtle shell is the only helmet that is not a part of a complete set.
• Defense point values exist in the code for all other pieces of a theoretical "turtle" armor set. These are: Template:Armor for Minecraft:chestplates, Template:Armor for Minecraft:leggings, and Template:Armor for Minecraft:boots, which is identical to a full set of iron.
