Hauling is a career that can be pursued in StarCitizen:Star Citizen. Haulers specialize in the bulk carrying of goods for a contractor like StarCitizen:Covalex, StarCitizen:Ling Family Hauling or StarCitizen:Red Wind Linehaul, offering their skills, time and vehicle to a contractor who wants a load moved from one point to another. It is a low risk-low reward profession. To be profitable it requires the employment of spacecrafts with a considerable cargo hold like the [[StarCitizen::Category:Hull series|Hull series]] and maximizing cargo routes.

Requirements

  • Each contract will specify the minimum amount of storage size your ship should be able to handle, for example some might require a ship that can carry 1 SCU size containers while other can require you to be able to handle 4 SCU size containers.
  • A low enough crime rating to enter the origin and destination stations

Out of Contract Hauling

Other than the contracts, citizens can buy and sell commodities at various locations for profit (or loss). There are a lot of websites dedicated to providing trading information like commodity prices at different locations for haulers.

Loop

The hauling loop includes the following steps:

  1. Accept a hauling contract or buy commodities.
  2. Whether you are collecting cargo for a contract or have bought your own, the first step is to retrieve the cargo from the freight elevator in your hangar. If you are collecting for a contract, the cargo will be visible on the freight elevator terminal.
  3. The cargo needs to be loaded onto your ship using a Multi-Tool or The MaxLift Tractor Beam.
  4. Once the cargo is loaded, head for the contract destination or a location where you suspect you can then make a profit.
  5. Land and unload the cargo onto the freight elevator.
  6. If busy with a contract, the freight terminal will automatically collect the cargo for the mission and you need to submit the contract. If not busy with a contract you can go and sell the commodities.

Contracts

Contractor Rank decides which contracts are available to player. Every contract name describe and categorize said contract. Hauling Contracts naming pattern: Contract Rank - Direct(optional) - Range/Distance - Size

Contract rank (rank of chosen contract not player) changes the aUEC price, number of stops, SCU quantity and max container size, as well as reputation reward. That means that Rookie medium Haul will have less SCU, smaller containers (max 8scu) and less places to deliver to, that Senior medium haul.
