Trapped in Trappist is a map in Minecraft:Minecraft Education that teaches three planets outside of Earth's solar system.

Summary

The player spawns in a room. There is a window that has a view of the solar system. The room has a chest with Minecraft:potatoes, Minecraft:coal, a Minecraft:camera, and a journal (Minecraft:book and quill). Inside the journal there are prompts for pros and cons about living in each planet. There is a blue beam at the back of the room. There are two sliding doors; one activated and leading to the shuttle hallway, while the other deactivated and leading to a bedroom. The player spawns with the Minecraft:Levitation effect but it can be disabled by pulling a Minecraft:lever at the top of the room. In the shuttle hallway, there are three working shuttles next to each other, and a disabled one at the very end of the hallway. Each shuttle is in front of a beacon, where a Minecraft:red beacon means signals are unstable and a Minecraft:lime beacon means signals are stable. There are black Minecraft:signs indicating the color code and the name of the planet. The disabled shuttle's beacon is a grey beacon, and the black signs around it have obfuscated text. Each shuttle has Minecraft:armor stands wearing the suitable gear, and a blue hologram named J.E.A.N. informing the player what to do. Pulling the lever will take the player to the planet. However, after pulling the lever, J.E.A.N. will glitch and speak in a way that cannot be understood.

Outpost Amity

A planet flooded with Minecraft:water, filled with Minecraft:kelp, and covered with Minecraft:gravel at the bottom. The player will have to place a wire block (Minecraft:red concrete) on the missing gap of the wire, in which the original wire has rotted. It is the only planet in Trapped in Trappist where the player cannot build a base. The player will have to wear a water-breathing suit or they will eventually Minecraft:drown. How to beat this?

Outpost 31

A planet covered with powder snow. The player is required to remove Minecraft:packed ice from the signal. They will have to wear an ice-proof suit or they will Minecraft:freeze to Minecraft:death because of all the Minecraft:powder snow.

Nostromo

A planet with mostly red sand. The player will have to fix the fried wire shields. There are Minecraft:iron deposits all around Nostromo so repairs will be easy. First, the player will have to collect Minecraft:raw iron. Then, the player will have to Minecraft:smelt the iron to break the fried iron shields and replace them with new iron blocks. Wearing a heat-protective suit is mandatory; otherwise the player will Minecraft:burn to death.

Trivia

  • It is not possible to obtain glass on this map because the player is restricted to a Minecraft:blast furnace, which cannot smelt the Minecraft:red sand on Nostromo, and regular furnaces cannot be crafted because no stone is available.
  • On Nostromo and Outpost 31, the Minecraft:yellow concrete bordering the building area can be broken, yet the block's name is still "Yellow Concrete".
  • There are also Minecraft:coal deposits on Nostromo, allowing for backup if the coal blocks that come with the blast furnace is lost.
  • Nostromo is technically inside Minecraft:the Nether.
  • The map name could be a reference to the TRAPPIST-1 star system, famous for being a primary candidate to harbor habitable worlds outside of Earth's solar system.
