A jockey refers to a naturally-spawned Minecraft:mob riding another mob. The mob on the top often controls the mob on the bottom Template:In, but sometimes does not control it Template:In.

Most jockeys are named based on the mob being ridden. The exceptions to the "jockey" naming scheme are the skeleton horseman and zombie horseman.

Removed

Most jockeys spawn in similar conditions to their respective mobs, except for baby zombie (variant) riders Template:In, which can mount any mob.

Mounting

Template:Exclusive Template:IN, 15% of naturally spawned baby zombies, baby husks, and baby drowned can mount other mobs when spawned. This includes baby zombies summoned by monster spawners and spawn eggs. Such a mob can be summoned with the minecraft:as_baby_jockey Minecraft:spawn event.

Due to a bug, baby zombified piglins jockeys don't spawn properly.<ref>They don't spawn due to Template:Bug, as the Template:Cd Minecraft:spawn event does not exist. </ref>

Due to another bug, baby zombie villagers cannot mount mobs as jockeys.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>

Summoning

Template:Main Jockeys can also be manually summoned using commands:

Chicken Jockey
In Java Edition: Template:Cmd

In Bedrock Edition, it requires two commands:

  1. Template:Cmd
  2. Template:Cmd

Variants of zombies or ridden mobs can be summoned by replacing chicken and zombie respectively.

Ravager Jockey
In Java Edition: Template:Cmd

  • This command summons a ravager with a pillager rider.

  • This command summons a ravager with a pillager rider.

Skeleton Horseman
Skeleton horsemen can be manually summoned by both the regular method and by spawning a skeleton trap.

A skeleton trap spawns 4 skeleton horsemen.

Spider Jockey

  • In Bedrock Edition: Template:Cmd. Note: It only works during nighttime or underground.
    • The following command summons a skeleton variant 80% of the time when in a biome with skeleton variants: Template:Cmd
