Dragonwilds:Doric

Template:Infobox NPC Doric is a dwarf who travelled to Dragonwilds:Ashenfall with Dragonwilds:Zanik, the Dragonwilds:Wise Old Man, Dragonwilds:Vannaka and Dragonwilds:Cathan. He is first introduced in the game as the survival tutor for crafting and teaches the player about their Dragonwilds:Rest, Dragonwilds:Hydration, and Dragonwilds:Sustenance systems. After the tutorial, he can be found in the Dragonwilds:Fractured Plains and Dragonwilds:Fellhollow.

History

History in the Mainland

Doric was born in the capital city of Keldagrim, raised as a follower of Dragonwilds:Guthix, like most dwarven kind. At a young age, he had trained in a young age to being a skilled smith and a decent fighter. Sometime after marrying an unknown dwarf, the two had a child together named Boric, but was forced to raise the child alone as the wife had left them both while he was still young. He had moved to the surface and settled in Asgarnia, where he would build a home there, raising Boric and also raising some mountain goats for some time. He started his own business and decided to send his son to Keldagrim so that he could learn how to be a proper smith, like him. During his time in running the business, he had a number of adventures and events happen around him, such as the War of 164, helping deal with situation in Morytania and more.

During these event, he befriended several people. During sometime, he noticed his business was not doing so well, as clients were no longer requesting work. With the help of the Adventurer, they discovered that it was his own son, Boric, who was sabotaging his father's business. After talking it out, the two managed to make up, deciding to be business partner, renaming the business to Doric & Son, with the same adventurer as a third business partner.

History in Ashenfall

After the events of the Dragonwilds:Sixth Age, Doric was drinking at a pub, where he was approached by Catham who requested that he joined the expedition to Ashenfall. Being drunk, Doric was quick to agree on the journey. Once he sobered up the next day, he realized what he done, regretting his choice on making deals while drunk. Being a man of his word, he went along with the expedition, allowing his son to take over the business in his absence. Despite not wanting to join, he is in search of new metals, lost smithing techniques and blueprints of ancient weapons.

Journal

The following text is transcribed from the Journal.

Doric is a master smith who trained in the dwarven capital of Keldagrim. He owns a smithing shop in Asgarnia alongside his son Boric. The two of them have a strained relationship because Boric took it personally when Doric sent him to Keldagrim to complete his training.

To rebuild trust and show his son that he has the uttermost faith in his abilities, Doric has left the running of the shop to Boric in his absence. Now, Doric comes to Dragonwilds:Ashenfall in search of new metals, lost smithing techniques, and the blueprints of ancient weapons.

Not much of a fighter himself, he prefers to stay out of harm's way, but he knows how to wield a hammer if push comes to shove.

Trivia

• Doric's appearance in RuneScape: DragonWilds is a combination of both his RuneScape and Old School RuneScape counterpart.
  • Doric keeps his white hair and beard appearance and boots from RuneScape, while keeping the belt buckle and tong. Then there's his over appearance, with his vambrace, apron shirt and pants being inspired from Old School RuneScape.
    • In the opening Cutscene of RuneScape: DragonWilds, he is seen holding his iconic hammer, with the tong.
• Originally, his journal has said that he owned a shop in Misthalin instead of Asgarnia, this has since been changed thanks to the Fellhollow update.
