The following text is transcribed from the Journal.

I had always wanted neighbours out here in the sticks, but these weren’t exactly what I imagined. Refugees, so they claim, from the Bandosian forces, escaped the violence of their people in hope of peace.

Followers of the war god, looking to settle down. I didn’t believe it until they turned in their weapons. There was this great pile of them outside the village, built up into a pyre and then set to the flame.

We danced as they burned, it was beautiful. I drank with a few of them and… well… I don’t remember much of the evening anymore. Just hazy moments of laughter and stories, nothing more than that.

Now I bring Golbor and Klom baskets of pumpkins and in exchange they help me plough the fields before we can sow the soil anew. Good people. Full of laughter and big emotions so large they create a gravity that draws all of us in.

These weren’t the neighbours I imagined, but I couldn’t ask for better.
