Dragonwilds:Emberwood
More actions
Template:Infobox Scenery Emberwood is a ruined village in the Dragonwilds:Fellhollow region of Dragonwilds:Ashenfall. The village was protected by a divine barrier maintained by shrines to the gods: Dragonwilds:Saradomin, Dragonwilds:Guthix, Dragonwilds:Zamorak and Dragonwilds:Armadyl. Emberwood is a collapsed village surrounding a small lake that once powered the settlement's mill. All structures have missing roofs and are in a state of ruin. A large cemetery surrounds the cathedral. A smaller circular lake lies to the northeast, featuring a large stone with a Shrine of Saradomin. The village is sealed by a magical barrier that can only be opened by obtaining blessings from the god shrines located around the area.
History
The village was envisioned as a potential utopia where multiple faiths could work side by side, with both Amalgamated and non-Amalgamated villagers coexisting peacefully under the protection of two great dragons.Template:CiteJournalTemplate:CiteJournal
Emberwood was protected by two dragons: Dragonwilds:Imaru and Dragonwilds:Xikotal. Imaru's most faithful followers were branded with special marks that granted them enhanced health and longer lifespans,Template:CiteJournal and she created purification water blessed with her magic to protect the population from illness and corruption.Template:CiteJournal
When the withering curse struck the village, priests from all four faiths united to erect a protective barrier. Using the power of prayer from bones buried in the soil, they created a barrier of belief to contain the withered villagers. The barrier was bound to religious icons and could only be opened when all the shrines worked together.Template:CiteJournal Imaru's grief and rage transformed the once-peaceful village into a prison, with a piece of the curse placed at its heart.Template:CiteJournal

Factions
The Hoplites
The primary military force was composed of farmers and artisans rather than nobility, naming themselves after the legendary Saradominist hoplites from the world of Hallow.Template:CiteJournal Through years of training, they developed exceptional unit cohesion, forming impenetrable shield walls and coordinated formations, with their training sessions concluding with communal barbeques hosted by retired hoplites.Template:CiteJournal When the withering began, however, the hoplites' unity became a fatal weakness as infected members turned on their comrades from within the ranks.Template:CiteJournal
The Wild Knights
Elite warriors who ventured into dangerous territories to face monsters warped by the anima twist, with their mages employing magic pragmatically against threats that ordinary villagers were unaware of.Template:CiteJournalTemplate:CiteJournal
Children of Shadows
A Zamorakian cult whose self-proclaimed warlocks performed dark rites in darkened basements, though these rituals had no actual effect.Template:CiteJournal Despite their ineffective rituals, the order made practical contributions, with member Sadia Vulketra forging the first steel gear in Fellhollow out of concern that they needed greater defensive strength against potential Saradominist threats.Template:CiteJournal
Druids
Guthixian druids performed rituals around the standing stones, wearing enchanted amulets in hopes of strengthening their bond with nature.Template:CiteJournal
Magical community
Despite having less funding than the tower to the south, Emberwood had a significant spellcasting community. The mages developed alternative methods to strengthen their magical abilities, with the Amulet of Magic being particularly popular among practitioners.Template:CiteJournal
Notable residents
Bilar Amaris
Bilar Amaris was a renowned hunter known for his skill with the bow and ability to take down nearly any prey.Template:CiteJournal
His death, while resulting in a sparsely attended funeral, led to an important development in Emberwood's crafting traditions. The dragonhide armor he wore proved remarkably durable despite his fatal injuries. Villagers recovered the armor and leatherworkers studied and improved upon the design, eventually making green dragonhide armor standard equipment for the village's best hunters.Template:CiteJournal
