More actions
Template:Hatnote Template:Infobox block A flower pot is a decorative Minecraft:block that can contain flowers, bamboo, saplings, cacti, mushrooms, fungi, and other small plants.
Obtaining
Breaking
Flower pots can be mined instantly using any Minecraft:tool or without a tool.
A flower pot drops itself as an Minecraft:item (any plant or Minecraft:mushroom in it separately) when pushed by a Minecraft:piston or when Minecraft:water flows into its space. If Minecraft:lava flows into its space the flower pot is destroyed. Script error: No such module "breaking row".
Natural generation
Flower pots naturally generate in witch huts where they contain a red Minecraft:mushroom, the basement of igloos where they contain a Minecraft:cactus, and in woodland mansions, where they contain birch Minecraft:saplings, dandelions, poppies, blue orchids, alliums, azure bluets, red and white tulips, and oxeye daisies.
Flower pots containing a dandelion can be found in some plains and savanna village houses. Flower pots containing a cactus or a dead bush can be found in some desert village houses. Flower pots containing a spruce sapling can be found in taiga village mason houses. Flower pots containing a poppy can be found in taiga village churches.
Flower pots with dead bushes can generate inside trial chambers.

Usage
A flower pot can be used to hold Minecraft:mushrooms, Nether fungi, and various plants. Plants that can be {{#vardefine: control | right click on mouse or left trigger on gamepad }}placed in a pot include any one-block-high Minecraft:flowers, Minecraft:saplings, Minecraft:ferns, dead bushes, cacti, Minecraft:bamboo, Minecraft:azaleas, mangrove propagule, warped roots, and crimson roots.
in Template:Editions, flower pots can be placed on any block or over Minecraft:air.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>
in Template:Editions, they must be placed on top of a full-Minecraft:block top surface, or the top of a Minecraft:fence, stone Minecraft:wall, or Minecraft:hopper. They cannot be placed on Minecraft:slabs and Minecraft:stairs unless those blocks are upside-down. Pots may also be placed on an upward facing trapdoor, although the pot breaks if the trapdoor is opened.
Flower pots are Template:Frac of a block high and can be stepped on. It is not possible to walk from the top of a flower pot onto a full sized block without jumping. It is possible to jump from a flower pot onto a fence.
The plant or fungus can be removed from the flower pot by pressing {{#vardefine: control | right click on mouse or left trigger on gamepad }}use. This places the item directly back into the player's inventory.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>
They can be used to display cacti and wither roses without inheriting their damaging properties.<ref>Template:Bug</ref><ref>Template:Bug</ref>
Flower pots break falling blocks, similar to Minecraft:torches.
Potted warped fungus can be used to repel hoglins.

Trivia
- The flower pot is based on a suggestion from Reddit, like ender chests and item frames.<ref>Template:Tweet</ref>
- If a plant that has been named is put in a flower pot, the plant loses its name.
- The inside of the flower pot in Java Edition uses the center 4×4 pixels of the dirt texture, while Bedrock Edition uses the center 6×6.
