Template:Underscore title Template:For Template:Infobox version 0.0.23a_01<ref>https://youtu.be/geoJG1cAFgM</ref> is a version of Minecraft:Java Edition Classic released on July 11, 2009,<ref name=change>Template:Twon</ref><ref>Template:Twon</ref> at 14:35 UTC.<ref>IRC logs: "A9:34:54 <08Notch> ok, _01 will be up in a minute or two" (14:34:54)</ref> It is the last version of Minecraft:Multiplayer Test. This version is not available in the launcher, but has been archived elsewhere. Notch retroactively renamed this version 0.23_1 when he changed the Minecraft:version format used from Minecraft:0.24_SURVIVAL_TEST onwards.<ref name=change/>

Remake

Template:Main To celebrate 10 years of Minecraft, a JavaScript remake of this version was uploaded to the Minecraft website and made it possible to play multiplayer with up to 9 others through the browser. This version can be played at classic.minecraft.net for free.<ref name="classic.minecraft.net">Template:Mcnet</ref>

Trivia

• Minecraft:Notch planned to refactor the version naming system after this version, removing the second zero and the "a", becoming the format "<major version>.<release number>[_<patch number>]". As an example, since this was the most recent version at the time, "0.0.23a_01" would be called "0.23_1" with such a system.<ref name=change/> However, this version did not actually use this name in-game. Additionally, the numbering that was actually used zero-padded the revision number.
  • This format was also used somewhat in Beta.
