Your stuff gone in a snap

A wipe is a complete or partial removal of data of one or more databases storing data about player progress, owned StarCitizen:ships, rentals, owned aUEC, etc, resulting in a reset.

Among others, it allows StarCitizen:Cloud Imperium to get fresh and therefore accurate analytics when changes are made to Star Citizen, for example regarding the need or lack thereof to adjust the prices of things without all the giant cash reserves accumulated by players.<ref>Star Citizen Live Q&A: Alpha 3.23 and Beyond, Star Citizen, YouTube, 4 May 2024</ref>

In February 2026, CIG said they weren't planning any full wipes anymore for now, but were looking at targeted ones, as corrections to areas that might be problematic, with players keeping as much as possible of what they have earned.<ref>Star Citizen Live | Tech Talk with Benoit Beausejour, Star Citizen, Youtube, February 5, 2026</ref>

Wipes happen when needed and as needed, they're not regular.
