Dragonwilds:Soul Rifting
More actions
Soul Rifting is a survival mechanic unique to the region of Dragonwilds:Fellhollow. The player is first introduced to this mechanic through Dragonwilds:Postie Pete explaining how to do it in the Dragonwilds:Forgotten Temple area.
Mechanics
Player limitations
When a player is in a soul rift, they are unable to craft and place an object. In addition, players cannot use any placed Dragonwilds:lodestones to teleport back to Dragonwilds:Ghornfell or Dragonwilds:Brynmoor, but can travel anywhere within Dragonwilds:Fellhollow and Dragonwilds:Death's Domain. This means players cannot use the Template:Key press key to escape out of their current location back to Dragonwilds:Saradomin's temple in the Dragonwilds:Temple Woods; they will instead return to the permanent lodestone at Death's Domain.
Despite these limitations, players will receive max Dragonwilds:sustenance and Dragonwilds:hydration, and both of these buffs are infinite as long as they stay soul rifted.
Entering the soul rift
To soul rift, the player must either interact with environmental scenery that causes Dragonwilds:Wither (such as Dragonwilds:Wither Water) or endure attacks that cause Wither from Dragonwilds:Withered Enemies and let themselves build up their Wither to completion. As you allow the wither to continue building to completion, you will receive messages about how your character feels their soul fraying. When you are completely withered, you will receive one last message that your character has entered the soul rift state.
Once you have entered this state, you have 300 seconds (or five minutes) to find a Dragonwilds:Purifying Pool and purify your soul. If you are unable to get to any nearby before the time limit expires, you will die. You are also unable to use Dragonwilds:Lodestones while Soul Rifting.
There are some stages to the soul rifting state:
- Grace Period (300 to 271 seconds): This is where there are no spectral enemies to fight yet.
- Even at the max duration of this state, you will be able to see and interact with ethereal platforms (found in certain Vaults) and Dragonwilds:Spectral Doors.
- Shallow Waters (270 to 151 seconds): Dragonwilds:Lost Souls begin to appear. This is shortly prefaced by a message appearing saying, "The tormented souls seek you from the Underworld."
- At 200 seconds, all Lost Souls become power level 3.
- Troubled Depths (150 to 0 seconds): Things get a bit more dire.
- At 145 seconds, Lost Souls begin to spawn less frequently and Ghost Wolves begin to appear.
- At 100 seconds, Dragonwilds:Imaru catches your scent and begins to attack you every ten seconds.
- At 0 seconds, she uses spectral claws to drag you down. This will kill you on the spot.
Spectral chests
Within Fellhollow, there are some chest in the spectral forms floating in the air. Soul-Rift would allow players to see the platforms leading to the chests.
Imaru Fight
During the fight with Dragonwilds:Imaru, Soul Rifting has a timer of 30 seconds instead of 300 seconds, and power level 5 Lost Souls immediately appear, however no Ghost Wolves appear. The player still dies at zero seconds.
Trivia
- There is a bug where if you are in Creative, soul-rifted, in a Spectral Door area, and reach zero, you will be permanently unable to use that world.
