Minecraft:Block of Redstone

Template:Infobox block A block of redstone, internally known as a redstone block, is a mineral Minecraft:block equivalent to nine Minecraft:redstone dust. It acts as an always active redstone power source that can be moved by Minecraft:pistons.

A block of redstone can be mined using any Minecraft:pickaxe (unlike Minecraft:redstone ore, which requires an iron pickaxe or better).<ref>Template:Bug</ref> If mined without a pickaxe, a block of redstone drops nothing. Template:Breaking row

Natural generation

In each Minecraft:ancient city, 2 blocks of redstone can be found integrated into circuitry within a secret room at the city center.

Usage

A block of redstone can be used as a redstone power source and to craft Minecraft:redstone dust.

Crafting ingredient

Blocks of redstone can be crafted back into redstone dust, and thus provide compact storage for redstone, like other blocks of materials (Minecraft:block of iron, Minecraft:block of gold, etc.). Template:Crafting usage

Redstone component

Blocks of redstone provide weak power to their direct neighbors at signal strength 15. Unlike Minecraft:redstone torches, redstone blocks do not require a support block and can be moved by Minecraft:pistons, but they also cannot be turned off.

Blocks of redstone are accepted by Minecraft:comparators as a side input.

Sulfur cube

Template:In development Minecraft:Sulfur cubes have the ability to absorb blocks of redstone, either through picking it up or being interacted with it. This provides the regular/football effect to the mob when hitting it.

Trivia

• As the block of redstone is not fully opaque, Minecraft:chests can be opened when covered by one.
