Minecraft:Copper Trap

Obtaining

Breaking

Although the copper trap has a drop, no vanilla tool is suitable for breaking it, so breaking it with any tool will have no effect. Furthermore, attempting to use Minecraft:Attack / Mine to order a tool to mine it will not happen, as tools only break blocks that they can mine.

However, it is still possible to make a copper trap block drop a living copper trap with an explosion.

Using cheats, it's possible to create a tool capable of mining it by modifying Template:DCL data component. Can be add this block in Template:Tag link so that it can be mined by any pickaxe (additionally, adding a tag like Template:Tag link prevents it from being mined by some pickaxes.)

Post-generation

If at least eight living Minecraft:copper bars of the same variant come close together, a living copper trap of that variant will form.

It can be placed as an item in a container by approaching an alive container or using a hopper.

It can be placed as a block with build, or somehow remove the action items from the hotbar.

Usage

Retard and prevent oxidation

Unlike most copper blocks, copper traps do not change their Minecraft:oxidation or wax state. This includes not being able to be deoxidized by Minecraft:axes, oxidizing naturally, waxing with Minecraft:honeycomb (neither by Template:Control nor by Minecraft:crafting), or deoxidation by lightning.

However, the non-waxed copper traps can still retard the oxidation of nearby copper blocks with the same level of oxidation. And it can also prevent oxidation at a higher oxidation level, that is, unpxidized copper trap prefers the oxidation of exposed and weathered copper, and exposed copper trap prefers the oxidation of weathered copper.

Although this behavior of retard and prevent oxidation is common to all non-waxed copper blocks (see Template:Slink), while a group of non-waxed copper blocks that does not have a copper trap will all oxidize completely at some point, however slowly (given that even if one copper block precedes the oxidation of another, the first will oxidize at some point), groups of copper blocks that have a copper trap will have blocks of color that will not oxidize to a certain level.

Like other waxed blocks of cooper, waxed copper trap do not retard or prevent the oxidation of nearby copper blocks.

Trap

Living copper traps, will attempt to pathfind towards the nearest player. When coming in contact with a player, it will spawn a cage of copper bars of the same variant of the copper trap around them, trapping them.

The copper cage has 25 copper bars (17 more than that used to produce the copper trap) and removing all the blocks that were previously in the copper bars' position, including blocks like Minecraft:bedrock.
