Template:Infobox block A coral block is a solid block that comes in five variants: tube, brain, bubble, fire, and horn.
Obtaining
Breaking
Coral blocks can be obtained only with a pickaxe enchanted with Minecraft:Silk Touch; if mined with a pickaxe not enchanted with Silk Touch, they drop the respective Minecraft:dead coral block. Template:Breaking row
Natural generation
Coral blocks naturally generate in Minecraft:coral reef structures, which can be found in Minecraft:warm oceans.
Trading
Minecraft:Wandering traders may sell 1 of any coral block for 3 Minecraft:emeralds. Template:Trade sources
Mob loot
Template:IN, Minecraft:wandering traders have a chance of 8.5% (increased by 1% per level of Minecraft:Looting) to drop 1 coral block when killed while showing the item as trade offer, if the player holds an Minecraft:emerald.
Usage
Template:FakeImage Coral blocks can be used for building or as decoration blocks.
Placement
In order for a coral block to stay alive, at least one of the six directly adjacent blocks must be Minecraft:water or a waterlogged block. If placed outside of water, it transforms into its respective Minecraft:dead coral block after 3 to 4.95 secondsTemplate:Only or 2.25 secondsTemplate:Only — a grayscale version of the coral block. A coral block still dies if the Minecraft:game rule randomTickSpeed is set to Template:Cd.<ref>Template:Bug</ref> Once a coral block dies, it is not possible to turn a dead coral block into a live coral block.
Template:IN, coral blocks do not die if they are surrounded by any non-air blocks.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>
Sea pickle farm blocks
If Minecraft:sea pickles are planted on live coral blocks, using Minecraft:bone meal on the sea pickles increases the number of sea pickles and creates more sea pickles on nearby coral blocks. Specifically, they can spread to the original sea pickle's level or one level below, out to a horizontal Minecraft:taxicab distance of 2. This only works on living coral blocks, not dead coral blocks.
Note blocks
All types of coral blocks can be placed under Minecraft:note blocks to produce "bass drum" sounds.
Sulfur cube
Template:In development Minecraft:Sulfur cubes have the ability to absorb all coral blocks, either through picking them up or being interacted with them. This provides the golf ball/fast flat effect to the mob when hitting it.
