12w42b is the fifteenth and final Minecraft:snapshot for Minecraft:Java Edition 1.4.2, released on October 18, 2012<ref>https://web.archive.org/web/20121022082301/http://www.mojang.com/2012/10/minecraft-snapshot-12w42b-preprerelease/</ref> to fix some of the bugs and crashes in the Minecraft:12w42a snapshot.

• Lock mechanism is now slightly more stable and predictable.

• Falling sand now properly "pops" when falling on non-solid blocks (such as Minecraft:torches).
