Minecraft:Java Edition 17w15a

17w15a is the fifth Minecraft:snapshot for Minecraft:Java Edition 1.12, released on April 12, 2017,<ref>https://minecraft.net/en-us/article/minecraft-snapshot-17w15a</ref> which adds colored beds.

Additions

Blocks

Template:Animate Minecraft:Beds

• Added colored beds which can be crafted with colored wool or by dyeing a white bed.
• Now bounce the player like Minecraft:slime blocks, albeit much less.
• Now reduce (but not negate) fall damage when landed on.
  • The player can survive a 41 block fall onto a bed.
    • Any higher, and the second bounce deal the remaining amount of damage to kill them.
  • The player can survive a 45 block fall onto a bed if they don't take further fall damage (e.g. by landing on a platform).
• Now a Minecraft:block entity, and each half can be colored individually using the color tag.
• Now use a 3D item model instead of a 2D item because of the new colors.

General

Minecraft:Advancements

• Added one advancement ("Adventuring Time"), added descriptions to 30 existing advancements and changed titles of most of them.
  • Advancements in this version include:

Minecraft:Narrator

• Added a toast notification for toggling the narrator.
• Added the option to toggle narrator between: "off", "chat & system", "chat only", and "system messages only".

Minecraft:Splashes

• Added "Don't feed chocolate to Minecraft:parrots!"

• The rear face and underside of stairs are now considered "solid".
  • Allows for Minecraft:torches, Minecraft:fences, Minecraft:iron bars, Minecraft:glass panes, Minecraft:walls, and Minecraft:snow layers to connect to them properly.

Minecraft:Fences, Minecraft:walls, Minecraft:glass panes, and Minecraft:iron bars

• Now connect to Minecraft:stairs, Minecraft:buttons, Minecraft:signs, all types of Minecraft:rails, Minecraft:banners, Minecraft:string, Minecraft:redstone, Minecraft:pressure plates, Minecraft:levers, Minecraft:tripwire hooks, Minecraft:sticky pistons, and Minecraft:structure voids.

Minecraft:Wool

• Removed the recipe to craft white wool using Minecraft:bone meal and white wool.

Mobs

Minecraft:Parrots

• No longer cycle through parrot colors when dancing.

General

Minecraft:Recipe books

• The icon in the pop-up notification now quickly cycles through all recipes that were unlocked.

Trivia

• 17w15a was previously removed from the Minecraft:launcher for some time, but was added back in September 2018.
