An Asteroid is a minor astronomical object one meter or larger in size. Asteroids are rocky, metallic, or icy bodies with no atmosphere, and are broadly classified into several types depending on their composition.
C-Type
C-Type asteroids are the most prolific, spawning in clusters composed from 1 up to 12 rocks, with the mass of each rock ranging from 112 tons up to 63,000 tons. They usually present a low resistance and low instability.
They are usually composed of StarCitizen:Quartz, StarCitizen:Copper, StarCitizen:Tungsten and StarCitizen:Iron, among other materials. Small quantities of StarCitizen:Quantanium and StarCitizen:Stileron can be found on them <ref name="RT">Regolith Survey Corps: Rock Types</ref>.
E-Type
E-Type asteroids usually spawn as single rocks, but can spawn in clusters composed up to 5 rocks, with the mass of each rock ranging from 1 ton up to 103,000 tons. They usually present a medium to high resistance and medium instability.
They are usually composed of StarCitizen:Silicon, StarCitizen:Iron, StarCitizen:Tungsten and StarCitizen:Corundum, among other materials. Small quantities of StarCitizen:Quantanium and StarCitizen:Laranite can be found on them <ref name="RT">Regolith Survey Corps: Rock Types</ref>.
I-Type
I-Type asteroids are currently only found in StarCitizen:Pyro. They usually spawn as single rocks, but can spawn in clusters composed up to 5 rocks, with the mass of each rock ranging from 1 ton up to 47,000 tons. They usually present a low resistance and medium instability.
M-Type
M-Type asteroids usually spawn as single rocks, but can spawn in clusters composed up to 5 rocks, with the mass of each rock ranging from 1 ton up to 106,000 tons. They usually present a high resistance and high instability.
They are usually composed of StarCitizen:Quartz, StarCitizen:Copper, StarCitizen:Silicon and StarCitizen:Titanium, among other materials.
