History

Dumper's Depot was founded by Ezekiel Chikamoto, who trades under the persona "Burner Zeke." Born in 2875, Chikamoto was the youngest of three children in a middle-class family in StarCitizen:Fujin City, StarCitizen:Saisei. He grew up tinkering with appliances and earned a scholarship to an elite private school, where his second-hand belongings left him socially ostracized. After repairing and reselling a classmate's discarded datapad, he began buying old electronics regardless of condition, fixing and reselling what he could. When he found that secondhand shops near the landing zone undervalued his goods because they took him for a wealthy prep-school student, he adopted the gruff "Burner Zeke" persona to secure better deals.<ref name="portfolio" />

Rather than attend university, Chikamoto used his family's savings to rent a storefront near his old school and opened Dumper's Depot, working full time as Zeke. By 2894 the store was running, but it was one of many scrap shops in the area. To stand out, Zeke set fixed base prices for common items according to their functionality and damage level, offered bulk options for large quantities, and prioritized fast transactions over haggling. He recovered the margin lost on bulk purchases by reselling repaired items and valuable salvaged parts. Having spent his capital on the store, he borrowed heavily to advertise on the StarCitizen:spectrum, starring in the store's first commercial himself with the pitch "Everything's valuable to someone!"<ref name="portfolio" />

The shop became the busiest in the area, and local refineries and construction companies began contracting with Dumper's Depot for supplies. In 2902, Zeke's first employee, Dayton Farro, sought to open a store on StarCitizen:Yar after moving home for family reasons. Zeke permitted use of the brand on the condition that the same practices be followed, and further franchises soon followed. Zeke personally produced the instructional materials for new franchise owners and encouraged them to run their stores by their own instincts, since they handled day-to-day operations. This decentralized structure is widely credited as a key reason the franchise remained viable where many other businesses failed.<ref name="portfolio" />
