In Star Citizen lore, the Foundation Festival is an annual civic program that takes place throughout July. It was proposed in 2861 by Imperator StarCitizen:Gayatari Deomana with the goal of strengthening community participation by encouraging Citizens and civilians to volunteer with local and imperial organizations.<ref name="foundation">Template:Cite RSI</ref> Independent charitable organizations often reach volunteer capacity during the holiday, so the UEE government offers short-term volunteer opportunities such as mentorship programs and cleanup events. Civilians can submit repeated Foundation Festival volunteer work as one of many qualifications to receive StarCitizen:Citizenship.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>
For players, it is often coupled with perks, promotions, and a StarCitizen:Free-fly. StarCitizen:Cloud Imperium has used this event to promote their StarCitizen:Guide System. In this, existing players can enlist themselves as guides in different subjects. New players can then request help from these guides. Using this system during this festival will reward both players for every session lasting longer than 30 minutes. Guides may have multiple sessions active simultaneously and each session will be counted separately for the rewards.

2024
From July 12 to July 31, participants in the Guide System will automatically receive weekly exclusive rewards for completing guide sessions and helping in multiple categories during the Foundation Festival. Completing a single guide session in a specific category earns exclusive Foundation Festival-themed prizes for both Guides and Recruits, with up to twelve paints available if all tutorial categories are completed. Additionally, unique Armor and Weapon sets will be awarded each weekend to those who complete at least three successful sessions, with a total of three sets available.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>
