Hedeby Gunworks is a StarCitizen:Human personal weapon manufacturer based in StarCitizen:Tram on StarCitizen:Asura in the StarCitizen:Ferron system. Founded by inventor StarCitizen:Altruis Hedeby in 2921 as a single shop to market armaments he had developed himself, the company is known for fusing elegant, classic designs with StarCitizen:Banu manufacturing techniques. Its earliest successful product was the StarCitizen:Salvo Frag Pistol, which introduced a range of new cooling techniques, and it continues to adapt traditional weapons with unconventional new design methods.<ref name="galactapedia">Template:Cite RSI</ref>

History

After an early life spent working at a scrap foundry in StarCitizen:Tram and learning metalworking under StarCitizen:Chae Ekstrom, Altruis Hedeby set up a small backyard forge of his own in 2921. He initially combined gun repair work with experimental weapons modifications, then began creating his own weapons using new designs and old techniques. Following early growth, he moved his forge to a larger location and trained apprentices to ease his workload.<ref name="jp0709">Template:Cite Jump Point</ref>

His traditional pistols and rifles became popular with locals, but Hedeby wanted to put his mark on the field by crafting his own style. Drawing on the Banu styling learned from Ekstrom, he created the StarCitizen:Salvo Frag Pistol. It began as a conventional pistol, but when Hedeby added a freezing primer to mitigate overheating, he realized he could create a supercooled casing that could be shattered into a spray of fragments. When he first fired the gun, the explosion nearly knocked him off his feet. The weapon became an instant success, and investors offered to fund the company's expansion. The Hedeby brand grew popular among collectors and gun enthusiasts, and Hedeby ensured that the company's expansion preserved its signature style and unique production techniques, which to this day blend hand-forging and machining.<ref name="jp0709" /><ref name="portfolio">Template:Cite RSI</ref>
