StarCitizen:Nyx system
More actions
Template:SystemThe Nyx planetary system is located slightly south of the former StarCitizen:Perry Line, directly on the border of a dark nebula<ref name="TGGN">Template:Cite RSI</ref>. Discovered in StarCitizen:2582, the Nyx system was left unclaimed by the StarCitizen:UEE after deciding its three planets were not terraforming candidates and attempts to mine the dense Nyx belt alpha - known as the StarCitizen:Glaciem Ring - were deemed too dangerous.<ref name=":0">Template:Cite RSI</ref>
The Nyx system is controlled by the StarCitizen:People's Alliance headquartered in StarCitizen:Levski - the most populous and most trafficked location in Nyx.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref> Smaller settlements exist in the system including old stations further colonised by the People's Alliance, believed outlaw bases hidden deep within the Glaciem Ring and suspected criminal strongholds hidden out in the cold and distant Nyx belt beta - the StarCitizen:Keeger Belt.<ref name=":1">Template:Cite RSI</ref><ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>
Today the state of the system is in flux, with heightening StarCitizen:Vanduul raids coinciding with a momentus terraforming effort lead by StarCitizen:Genesis Terraforming.
History
Nyx was discovered in StarCitizen:2582 during the height of the newly-formed United Empire of Earth's territorial expansion. Astronomically, the most distinct aspect of Nyx is that it is located directly on the border of a dark nebula.
The system was first charted through a jump point in the Bremen System by solo navjumper StarCitizen:Carla Larry. Carla's official claim doesn't specify much of interest in the system, writing that it "lacks logical reason to apply the expense of terraformation." Larry did make an attempt to formally name the star's three worlds Lou, Morgan and Ashley, apparently after three separate romantic conquests she was pursuing. As per normal policy, the StarCitizen:UEE government has never recognized these names, and they have never been widely used.
In StarCitizen:2618 a group of political activists and refugees from the political group known as the StarCitizen:People's Alliance fled the Messer regime and moved into a vacated asteroid StarCitizen:mining facility in the Glaciem Ring, forming the largest settlement within the Ring.<ref name=":0" /><ref name=":1" /> These people named the facility StarCitizen:Levski and have since established some degree of order in the Nyx system.<ref>CitizenCon Direct: October 11, 2025. In the last two centuries, Nyx has gained some additional utility as a waypoint on the Castra-Stanton run, with a significant credit value of cargo moving through the system at any one time. Small scale piracy is not uncommon, and travelers are warned not to veer off the standard spacelanes during transit of the system.<ref name="ReferenceA">Template:Cite RSI</ref>
It was not until StarCitizen:2954 that the first planet of the system, StarCitizen:Nyx I, had ever been considered a serious terraforming candidate. This changed only because of the efforts of StarCitizen:Genesis Terraforming, who arrived with a daring goal to terraform that which previously could not be. Using novel and experimental StarCitizen:Terraformation platforms, Genesis embarked on a mission to bring new life to what had been a hot, smoggy rock.<ref name="ReferenceA" /><ref name=":02">Edition 4.4. Activities
StarCitizen:Operation Rock Breaker
Operation Rock Breaker is a mission located in Nyx that will task players with rebooting one of the many new QV Breaker Stations to break open and gain access to abundant mineral resources at the center of the asteroid. Players will need to fight their way through various NPCs and creatures as well as engaging with puzzles and hazards during the course of restoring the station’s mining capabilities.<ref name=":2">4.7 Release Notes - https://robertsspaceindustries.com/en/comm-link/Patch-Notes/21070-Star-Citizen-Alpha-47</ref>
System Composition
The system centres around a main sequence [[StarCitizen::Category:Dwarf stars|dwarf-F star]], Nyx.
Asteroid belts
StarCitizen:Glaciem Ring
A dense asteroid belt circles Nyx's star at roughly 8 AU out. The asteroid field is not a source of valuable minerals, but coupled with the nebula it has created a very good place to hide.<ref name="ReferenceA" /> StarCitizen:Delamar lies within the Glaciem Ring. This ring contains StarCitizen:Levski.
StarCitizen:Keeger Belt
The Keeger Belt is located at the system's edge.
StarCitizen:People's service stations
Managed by members of the People's Alliance, these service stations offer a safe haven with basic restock, rearm, and refueling operations along with many different shopping options for pilots traveling through Nyx.<ref name=":2" />
Planets
| StarCitizen:Nyx I | Nyx I is a coreless world that has been mined clean by the StarCitizen:Gold Horizon corporation.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref> | |
|---|---|---|
| StarCitizen:Nyx II | A high-pressure atmosphere and thick clouds of acid and carbon dioxide make Nyx II not worth terraforming.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref> | |
| StarCitizen:Delamar | Not technically a planet - this large asteroid is hidden deep within the StarCitizen:Glaciem Ring. Anti-StarCitizen:UEE activists, political radicals and criminals now occupy the deserted mining facility StarCitizen:Levski built inside this asteroid. In an effort to keep out potential criminal elements, visitors are strictly forbidden from entering its residential areas.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref> | |
| StarCitizen:Nyx III | Nyx III is an ice giant that lacks a breathable atmosphere or any valuable materials.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref> |

Trivia
- According to Dave Haddock Nyx is the "greek goddess of darkness and night". In fact, Erebus is the god and personification of darkness in contrast to Nyx, which is the godess and personification of night.
