Template:Infobox location Template:Outdated Ruin Station, originally MacEwan Station, is an StarCitizen:outlaw station orbiting StarCitizen:Terminus in the StarCitizen:Pyro system. Founded by StarCitizen:Pyrotechnic Amalgamated in 2506 as their headquarters in the system, the site was chosen due to its relative safety from flares from StarCitizen:Pyro (star), which made construction on StarCitizen:Monox and StarCitizen:Bloom risky. The station was named in honor of the watch officer of the StarCitizen:Roustabout, the ship that discovered the StarCitizen:Pyro system<ref name=":0">Template:Cite Jump Point</ref>
The station ran into problems early. Disappointing profits from the system led to a slowdown of construction in 2508, and in 2510 the company used the finders fee for discovering the Nivelin system (later renamed the StarCitizen:Hadrian system) to fill the budget shortfall. Construction was completed in 2512, and revenue was further boosted following the discovery of the StarCitizen:Terra system. However, when in 2539 a Jump Point was discovered leading from Nivelin to the StarCitizen:Gurzil system, the government quickly restricted access, resulting in a large drop in traffic.<ref name=":0" />
By 2542, mining revenues from the system had slowed, and the company failed to find significant deposits to exploit further. An attempt was made to sell the station to the government as a rear base to support the StarCitizen:Hadrian system, but no agreement was met. The 2550s saw further decline, and while shield technology improved as a result of the StarCitizen:First Tevarin War, the same advancements allowed outlaws and bandits to use Pyro as their base of operations. The company eventually stripped MacEwan station of valuable parts, and abandoned it. They would declare bankruptcy in 2563.<ref name=":0" />
The dilapidated station quickly fell into use as a meeting place for squatters, runaways and black market deal-making. It was around this time that it earned it moniker Ruin Station as many who traversed its crumbling halls did so with the risk of the station collapsing around them. Yet, despite the dangers, the hideaway's popularity only grew. It was only a matter of time until it followed the same path as StarCitizen:Spider, with outlaws gradually adding to the station's infrastructure and developing a unique subculture. However, where Spider's culture centers around honor among thieves, Pyro is based more around whoever has the most guns wins.
Make no mistake: Ruin Station is not suitable for tourism, regular trade or even experienced bounty hunters seeking the thrill of combat. The outlaws that do crew the station are notorious for their use of violence. Recently released StarCitizen:Advocacy reports list StarCitizen:XenoThreat as the current pack in control of the station, but this may change at a moment's notice.
There are a few other known gangs within the station who have a substantial presence, such as the StarCitizen:Overlords, StarCitizen:Darkside Rovers and the StarCitizen:Fire Rats.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>
A highlight of Ruin Station's dimly lit halls is StarCitizen:Corner Four, a sequence of former research labs converted into drug factories and no-questions-asked medical treatment facilities. StarCitizen:Neutrality, the station's requisite dive bar, is the only arguably safe place on the station: armored toughs called the StarCitizen:Cousins keep the peace here, at least in so much as they are needed to protect the bar's staff and facilities.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>
Ruin Station was mentioned in the StarCitizen:CitizenCon 2949 demo as a mission destination to bring valuable intel to from MicroTech.
Following the outcome of StarCitizen:Hunt Frontier Fighters, in Alpha 4.5.0 StarCitizen:Amelia Boyd was captured, and executed, with her body put on display by the StarCitizen:Headhunters in the lobby of Ruin Station.
