Name
The name RyiXy'an literally translates as "Cradle of the Xi'an", and is sometimes translated simply as "Cradle" or as "Xradle". The idea of a Cradle is significant in Xi'an culture, invoking a sense of care and comfort<ref name=":3" />. The alternative spelling of RyiX'yan is "less correct"<ref name=":2" />, and in Xi'an writing could correspond to an older spelling that predates the invention of the "XY" letter form<ref name=":3" />.
