StarCitizen:Yela
More actions
Yela (Stanton 2c) is the furthest moon orbiting the gas giant StarCitizen:Crusader. It is named after the oldest of the three siblings featured in the 24th-century children's morality tale, StarCitizen:A Gift for Baba—its water-ice crust is said to represent Yela's cool and calculating mannerisms. This moon is the only celestial body in the StarCitizen:Stanton system featuring an asteroid belt, home to many small locations of interest.
Atmosphere
Yela has an oxygen atmosphere. As of 3.17.2, the atmosphere is breathable, although this cannot be confirmed for earlier patches. Pressure suits can replenish their oxygen supplies by extracting it from the surrounding environment.

Artificial satellites
StarCitizen:GrimHEX
| A former housing exchange, this run-down asteroid station has suffered catastrophic decompression throughout much of its interior. The remainder has fallen under the control of StarCitizen:Nine Tails outlaws allowing them to expand their operations throughout Stanton. Ship components, weapons, armor, clothing and cryptokeys are all sold here. A remote terminal allows contact with criminal info-agent StarCitizen:Ruto. |
StarCitizen:Comm Array ST2-76
| Provides ECN coverage for the majority of the Yela area, but fails to cover the area immediately surrounding GrimHEX. |

Benny Henge
In the umbra on the far side of Yela is a small asteroid with two transmitters on it. Below the transmitter towers is a landing pad with gravity that has a Stonehenge-like formation of StarCitizen:Big Benny's machines. One of the machines has evidently fallen over, crushing and killing someone.
History
Discovered by navjumper StarCitizen:Toshi Aaron alongside the rest of the Stanton system in 2851, Yela was briefly the sole property of the StarCitizen:United Empire of Earth. During this time, the StarCitizen:UEE Navy began to construct a base in the skies of Stanton II. It lightly mined the moons for resources, but largely left them alone.
In 2865, driven by a financial crisis, the UEE sold all the planets and moons in the system to various corporations, including StarCitizen:Crusader Industries, who purchased the parent planet along with Yela and its sister moons. After refitting the Navy's platforms on the newly-renamed planet Crusader for its own use, the company established multiple mining facilities and security outposts across Yela, StarCitizen:Cellin, and StarCitizen:Daymar, and offered some of the land for lease.
In spite of the inhospitable environment, some Humans have made Yela their home. StarCitizen:Wilma Ivery built the first permanent homestead in 2907,<ref name="crushist" /> where she lived until her death in 2935 from natural causes. In 2909, the first Human was born on Yela when Albert and StarCitizen:Nora Triolo were forced to make an emergency landing to give birth to their daughter, StarCitizen:Erma Triolo.<ref name="crushist" /> Outlaw group StarCitizen:Nine Tails began using abandoned Navy facilities as bases in 2946, leading to an increase in patrols from Crusader Security.<ref name=":0">Template:Cite RSI</ref>
Culture
Unregulated ground-vehicle racing is a popular pastime among residents of and visitors to Yela. StarCitizen:Lakedra Walsh organized and won the first recorded ground-vehicle race on the moon in 2912. The site of this race was made into a permanent racetrack, and was named StarCitizen:Lakedra's Lap in her honor. Many of the racing sites take advantage of Yela's terrain, and include large boulders and rocks. In 2917, amateur racer StarCitizen:Ethan Halton died in StarCitizen:Nakamura Valley from injuries sustained during a crash while making a tight turn on once such track.<ref name=":0" />

Starfarer wrecks
Two destroyed Starfarers could be found on the direct route from StarCitizen:Port Olisar to Yela. There were no bodies among the wreckage. The wrecks were linked to the StarCitizen:ICC Assistance (9) mission chain.
Beacons
Numerous beacons dotted the asteroid belt. Some denoted wreckage (with loot), others were StarCitizen:Nine Tails lures.
Transmitters
Around Yela there were several tall transmitter towers sticking out of asteroids, with a StarCitizen:Big Benny's vending machine strapped to the top. The towers broadcasted the Big Benny's jingle and could be heard from far away. On the back of each machine was a scrawled temperature in degrees Kelvin, each a naturally significant temperature. These acted as a 'hot' or 'cold' clue for pilots to find StarCitizen:Benny Henge.
