Subscriptions are optional contributions that any user can make to the Star Citizen Project.
They are not to be confused with any kind of monthly subscription to play the game, as playing the game only requires a one-time purchase of the game itself for $45 and doesn't require any subscription whatsoever to play.<ref>10 for the Chairman: Episode 60 (2015.07.20), Star Citizen, Youtube, 20 July 2015</ref><ref>Wingman's Hangar ep034 . Optional subscriptions contribute to the Star Citizen project development by funding behind-the-scenes [[StarCitizen::Category:Video series|shows]] like StarCitizen:Inside Star Citizen in addition to Jump Point, the monthly digital magazine about Star Citizen. There are two Star Citizen subscription tiers: Imperator and Centurion.<ref name="subfaq">Template:Cite RSI</ref>
Purchasing a Subscription
There are two ways to become a subscriber: through a Plan or through Passes.
A Plan is a recurring payment that you subscribe to through your Payment Processor. It can be a monthly-recurring payment or an annually (12 month) recurring one. Every time a payment is processed, your subscription is automatically expanded by one period (month or year, depending on the plan).
A Pass is a one-off payment that grants you Subscriber access for a limited time. They're an excellent alternative if you can't or don't want to subscribe to a recurring payment plan. Passes don't require a cash purchase, as you can buy them with Store Credit.
A Pass gives you exactly the same perks as a regular Plan and also contributes to your subscriber history.<ref name="subfaq" />

Once purchased, a subscription will bill you every month on the same date as the first purchasing date.
You can cancel a subscription any time, by going to Account > Settings > Billing and Subscription Tab, and clicking "Cancel Subscription."

Subscribers store
The Subscriber store or "Subscriber Exclusive" store is a section of the StarCitizen:Pledge Store that lists the items only available to purchase as a subscriber. These items include all past and current subscriber rewards that can be purchased retroactively, and without limit in quantity. These items can also be gifted after purchase.

| JUMP POINT
Subscribers receive Jump Point, Star Citizen's official digital magazine. This monthly full-color publication includes exclusive behind-the-scenes articles and interviews into the development process of Star Citizen and StarCitizen:Squadron 42. Subscribers can also access the entire collection of Jump Point back issues at any time. |
