Template:Infobox biome The wooded badlands or mesa plateau stone biome is a more humid variant of the Minecraft:badlands covered by Minecraft:grass blocks and Minecraft:coarse dirt on their plateaus, vegetated by small Minecraft:oak trees.
Generation
Wooded badlands generate at higher Minecraft:humidity values compared to the default badlands, which means that they can often be found bordering Minecraft:jungles and Minecraft:bamboo jungles. Near lower altitudes or Minecraft:oceans with Minecraft:stony shores, wooded badlands change to Minecraft:deserts.
They can also generate in Minecraft:mountain peaks, where they can elevate up to Y=256 and rarely border Minecraft:stony peaks.
Due to their high humidity values, wooded badlands almost always have Minecraft:lush caves beneath them, although Minecraft:dripstone caves may generate instead when they are far inland. Due to their low erosion value, wooded badlands have a high chance to generate the Minecraft:deep dark beneath them.
Description
Wooded badlands generate groves of trees at their plateaus, and therefore are the forest variant of the badlands. The uppermost layers of terrain consist of both Minecraft:grass blocks and Minecraft:coarse dirt, with Minecraft:oak trees and Minecraft:short grass growing on them, the former always appearing as small variants. Minecraft:Leaf litter and Minecraft:dead bushes commonly cover the ground under the trees. In wooded badlands, the grass and oak leaves take on a dull greenish-brown color darker than that of the Minecraft:savanna biome, giving it a droughted and weathered appearance.
The coarse dirt and grass layer on top begins generating above Y=97. Beneath, wooded badlands generate similar to regular badlands, with Minecraft:red sand, Minecraft:stained terracotta, Minecraft:dead bushes and Minecraft:cacti making up the landscape. Additionally, Minecraft:gold ore has a higher chance of generating, like in other badlands biomes, and mineshafts made of dark oak planks generate much more elevated and exposed than regular mineshafts.
Despite being more lush, wooded badlands still count as arid biomes and never experience Minecraft:rainfall.
Minecraft:Armadillos live in wooded badlands, and the warm variants of farm animals can spawn on top of the wooded plateaus. Striped wolves exclusively spawn in here.
When a Minecraft:river cuts through wooded badlands and generates dry terrain with grass blocks, the wooded badlands biome will spawn oak trees in this river biome, even though it is not on a plateau and surrounded by red sand.
With Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals, wooded badlands have unique atmospherics, the sky is tinted turquoise-green at daytime and much brighter during the night, while the daytime horizon is tinted brown. Moonlight is more vibrant blue, and the warm color grading tints the environment more yellow, although color saturation is slightly lower.

Old generation
Before Minecraft:Caves & Cliffs, the wooded badlands plateau took up 2/3 of the rare dry temperature zones, alongside badlands plateaus which had no forest. Wooded badlands plateaus formed almost perfectly flat plateaus about 30 blocks above sea level, exposing different stained terracotta layers altered by its forest vegetation. When rivers cut through wooded badlands plateaus, they formed steep and narrow canyons exposing all terracotta layers.
The rare dry climate zone was surrounded by a regular Minecraft:badlands biome at lower altitudes, mostly covered by red sand, which had a thin Minecraft:desert border. Regular badlands or eroded badlands also generated as small spots inside wooded badlands plateaus, creating curved cliffs and much variation. No Minecraft:beaches generated next to oceans. Their mutation was the modified wooded badlands plateau.
