Pyrotechnic Amalgamated (sometimes abbreviated PyAm) was a StarCitizen:human mining company most notable for discovering the StarCitizen:Pyro system in StarCitizen:2493 and the StarCitizen:Hadrian system (originally named Nivelin) in StarCitizen:2510.<ref name="galactapedia">Template:Cite RSI</ref> Founded in StarCitizen:2409 by StarCitizen:Tromo Nivelin, it initially specialized in scouting and prospecting remote areas for viable claims and taking control of them before potential competitors arrived.<ref name="GGHS">Template:Cite RSI</ref> The company began extracting resources from the Pyro system in 2493, shortly after receiving approval from the StarCitizen:United Nations of Earth (UNE), and the profits allowed it to expand rapidly throughout the StarCitizen:26th century, constructing numerous bases and space stations throughout the system. A series of financial setbacks across the following decades, compounded by increased outlaw activity and the cost of maintaining its equipment, eventually forced the company to declare bankruptcy in StarCitizen:2563.<ref name="galactapedia" />

History

Pyrotechnic Amalgamated was founded in StarCitizen:2409 when StarCitizen:Tromo Nivelin used his earlier profits from the sale of a data management company, co-founded with a university friend, to start a new mining venture. Most financiers passed on the crowded mining field and Nivelin's inexperience in it, so he ultimately self-funded the remainder of the company.<ref name="JP1102">Template:Cite Jump Point</ref><ref name="PFPA">Template:Cite RSI</ref>

With the discovery of Virgil in StarCitizen:2412, Pyrotechnic Amalgamated landed windfall profits through its unorthodox approach to scanning the system for mining bids. Unlike the majority of companies, which used the systemic scan-grid technique, Pyrotechnic Amalgamated used a scanning method popular with explorers, which allowed it to cover a much wider area in a fraction of the time it took other companies. This speed allowed the company to underbid others and secure several lucrative locations within the system.<ref name="JP1102" /><ref name="PFPA" />

Founder and CEO Tromo Nivelin's goal for the company was to discover a system, something he believed would allow the company to sustain itself for centuries to come. With this goal in mind, an exploration division was created within the company. Nivelin retired in 2457 before realizing this ambition.<ref name="JP1102" /><ref name="PFPA" />

Twenty-four years after Pyro's initial discovery, Pyrotechnic Amalgamated, seeking new mining territories, began reviewing the scan records of systems not yet claimed. After further review of the original report from the StarCitizen:Roustabout, the company sent an explorer to the region, formally discovered Pyro, and immediately began charting its planets.<ref name="GGPS">Template:Cite RSI</ref>

Pyrotechnic Amalgamated registered its discovery of the system with the StarCitizen:United Nations of Earth and lobbied for the UNE to claim the system. The government, however, decided that the system's sun was too unstable, leaving the system unclaimed.<ref name="JP1102" /><ref name="PFPA" />

On January 15th, StarCitizen:2494, Pyrotechnic Amalgamated held an employee job fair, seeking qualified employees to explore and chart the Pyro system.<ref name="jp1010FTC">Template:Cite Jump Point</ref>

The government's reluctance to claim the system did not deter the company from establishing mining sites on StarCitizen:Pyro II and StarCitizen:Bloom, or from bolstering its security force to "discourage" others from developing their own sites in the system.<ref name="JP1102" /><ref name="PFPA" />

Pyrotechnic Amalgamated began constructing StarCitizen:MacEwan Station in StarCitizen:2506, named in honor of the Roustabout watch officer who discovered the gravitational anomaly. With construction costs soaring, little profit from its mining operations, and a downturn within the mining industry, CEO StarCitizen:Cecile Uchiha slowed the construction of the station by StarCitizen:2508.<ref name="JP1102" /><ref name="PFPA" />

In StarCitizen:2510, a security force associated with the company ran deep space scans that revealed the existence of a jump point into a new system. A promising asteroid belt was discovered, though no habitable planets were located within the system, which the company named Nivelin. The company registered its discovery with the UNE and used the finder's fee in an attempt to fill the budget shortfall of MacEwan Station.<ref name="JP1102" /><ref name="PFPA" />

The station was completed in StarCitizen:2512 and went on to streamline mining and supply operations for the company. With the discovery of the StarCitizen:Terra system in StarCitizen:2516 and a jump point from it to Pyro, the station saw a significant increase in traffic. Pyrotechnic Amalgamated attempted to capitalize on its close proximity to Terra by bidding on mining rights within the system, a venture that led it to overbid on the Arroyo lode when data from a faulty scanner convinced executives within the company that it was worth much more than it actually was.<ref name="JP1102" /><ref name="PFPA" />

In StarCitizen:2539, a jump was discovered between Nivelin and the StarCitizen:Gurzil system, placing the system in the middle of the StarCitizen:Xi'an-Human Cold War, which led the government to restrict access to Nivelin and rename it Hadrian. This restriction caused a significant reduction in traffic to MacEwan Station.<ref name="JP1102" /><ref name="PFPA" />

By StarCitizen:2542, the mines within Pyro were all but depleted, leading the company to attempt to sell MacEwan Station to the government. The deal ultimately failed, which was the first step toward the eventual bankruptcy of the company.<ref name="JP1102" /><ref name="PFPA" />

The company spent the 2550s shrinking its workforce, reducing its areas of operation, and liquidating assets to keep itself running. With the development of more advanced shield technology following the StarCitizen:First Tevarin War, Pyrotechnic Amalgamated saw a chance at survival by using the technology to operate in even the harshest parts of the system. The widespread adoption of the technology, however, meant a higher presence of outlaws within the system, and because of an extensive reduction of its security forces as a cost-saving measure, the company found itself under near-constant attack.<ref name="JP1102" /><ref name="PFPA" />

In StarCitizen:2563, Pyrotechnic Amalgamated declared bankruptcy while attempting to overcome the unforgiving conditions of Pyro.<ref name="UTPP">Template:Cite RSI</ref> The company was crushed by the cost of attempting to build a station that orbited StarCitizen:Pyro IV.<ref name="UTPP" /> A former housing platform owned and operated by Pyrotechnic Amalgamated, known as StarCitizen:Ruin Station, serves as the largest stronghold for pirates, fugitives, terrorists, and others in Pyro.<ref name="OLCP">Template:Cite RSI</ref>
