Windswept hills generate as Minecraft:mountains in high PV and Minecraft:continentalness, but at far higher erosion. Because of this, the terrain is usually elevated but flat, sometimes hilly and shattered. They generally peak at Y-level 140. Despite windswept hill biomes being highland biomes, Minecraft:deep dark doesn't generate under windswept hills biomes.
Windswept hills generate similarly to Minecraft:mountains, usually inland at elevated terrain, though only when the erosion is moderately high. This causes somewhat lower terrain, often rugged, jagged, or shattered with floating islands. Surrounding terrain is often very flat, or consists of Minecraft:swampland.

Windswept hills generate at medium to the lowest temperature zones at medium humidity. They commonly border Minecraft:windswept forests and Minecraft:windswept gravelly hills as well as Minecraft:windswept savannas at higher temperatures. Large ranges of windswept hills often surround Minecraft:swamps with flatland biomes on the other side, including Minecraft:plains, most Minecraft:forests, Minecraft:taigas, and Minecraft:snowy plains.
Windswept hills generate in cold to temperate climates with low to moderate humidity, commonly neighboring Minecraft:forests, Minecraft:plains, Minecraft:flower forests, and Minecraft:sunflower plains. In colder regions, Minecraft:snowy plains and Minecraft:snowy taigas are more likely to generate nearby.

Template:Infobox biome Windswept hills or extreme hills are cold mountainous biomes with shattered terrain covered by grass blocks and stone. Windswept hills generate in areas with high erosion close to Minecraft:swamps, often bordering their wooded and gravelly variants.

Generation

Windswept hills generate similarly to Minecraft:mountains, usually inland at elevated terrain, though only when the erosion is moderately high. This causes somewhat lower terrain, often rugged, jagged, or shattered with floating islands. Surrounding terrain is often very flat, or consists of Minecraft:swampland.

When humidity increases, windswept hills can border the Minecraft:windswept forest variant. Near lower temperatures and humidities, Minecraft:windswept gravelly hills sometimes border, and near higher temperatures, Minecraft:windswept savannas sometimes generate.

Minecraft:Dripstone caves often generate beneath windswept hills located far inland. Minecraft:Sulfur caves may generate in areas with low weirdness, while Minecraft:ice caves can generate in particularly cold regions with high weirdness.Template:Upcoming

Description

In windswept hills, the Minecraft:grass and Minecraft:leaves are an aqua color. These are the only biomes, besides Minecraft:mountain biomes, where Minecraft:emerald ore is found. Like mountains, Minecraft:infested blocks with Minecraft:silverfish can be generated underground below the sea level.

The ground consists of many exposed Minecraft:stone blocks and Minecraft:ores, with some patches of Minecraft:grass blocks in between. Above Y=120±8, rainfall changes to Minecraft:snowfall, and the hills becomes snow-capped, along with Minecraft:water freezing into Minecraft:ice.

Template:IN, Minecraft:oak and Minecraft:spruce trees generate occasionally, while these are exclusive to the windswept forest Template:In. Minecraft:Bushes generate on the sparse grasslands, and Minecraft:llamas can spawn here together with cold Minecraft:animal variants.

With Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals, windswept hills use default environmental settings with a coolish color grading, making the biome appear colder blue. They use cold sunlight, which appears slightly brighter at dusk and dawn.
