The deep dark is a Minecraft:cave biome that generates deep underground in the Minecraft:Overworld, most often beneath mountainous areas. Covered in Minecraft:sculk, no hostile mobs spawn here except for the Minecraft:warden which appears after activating Minecraft:sculk shriekers.

The deep dark is a cave biome that generates deep underground beneath areas with a low erosion value. The deep dark usually stays within the Minecraft:deepslate layer, although it can occasionally reach into the Minecraft:stone layer. Rarely, it can generate at up to y=124.
The deep dark generates deep underground, typically staying within the Minecraft:deepslate layer, though it can occasionally reach into the Minecraft:stone layer when mountains above reach high altitudes.

The biomes the deep dark generates under are the ones with the least erosion and high altitudes. These are:
Because the deep dark tends to generate beneath regions with low erosion values, it is most frequently found beneath mountain biomes, including Minecraft:frozen peaks, Minecraft:jagged peaks, Minecraft:stony peaks, Minecraft:groves, and Minecraft:snowy slopes. Plateau biomes like Minecraft:cherry groves, Minecraft:meadows, Minecraft:savanna plateaus, and Minecraft:pale gardens also have relatively low erosion values, allowing the deep dark to sometimes generate beneath these biomes. The deep dark will almost never generate under rivers, oceans, windswept biomes, swamps, or mangrove swamps.

* Most often: Minecraft:jagged peaks, Minecraft:stony peaks, Minecraft:frozen peaks, Minecraft:snowy slopes, and Minecraft:groves

* Less often: Minecraft:badlands, Minecraft:wooded badlands, and Minecraft:eroded badlands
* Never: Minecraft:oceans, Minecraft:rivers, Minecraft:swamps or Minecraft:deserts.

The deep dark is the only biome where Minecraft:ancient cities can generate. Other structures and features that can be found in the deep dark include Minecraft:monster rooms, Minecraft:strongholds, and Minecraft:amethyst geodes. Minecraft:Mineshafts and Minecraft:trial chambers never generate in a deep dark biome, although they may extend into one.

The deep dark can be a great biome for mining Minecraft:diamonds since they are most frequent at the deepest layers of the world and generate less frequently when exposed to air which the Minecraft:sculk protects them from. The Minecraft:sculk floors and walls can easily be destroyed with a Minecraft:hoe, yielding a large amount of Minecraft:experience, effective for hoes with Minecraft:Mending.
While certain Minecraft:ores that are exposed to Minecraft:air blocks have a chance to not generate, sculk blocks are considered a solid block during generation, causing many ores to be revealed under it.

Other mobs do not spawn, so the warden is the only threat, which can be safely avoided by destroying all nearby shriekers.

Template:Infobox biome Template:Relevant tutorial The deep dark is a Minecraft:cave biome that generates deep underground in the Minecraft:Overworld, most often beneath mountainous areas. Covered in Minecraft:sculk, no hostile mobs spawn here except for the Minecraft:warden which appears after activating Minecraft:sculk shriekers.

Generation

The deep dark generates deep underground, typically staying within the Minecraft:deepslate layer, though it can occasionally reach into the Minecraft:stone layer when mountains above reach high altitudes.

Description

The deep dark is covered in large patches of Minecraft:sculk blocks surrounded by Minecraft:sculk veins, which include sculk-related blocks such as Minecraft:sculk shriekers, Minecraft:sculk sensors, and Minecraft:sculk catalysts.

The biome is dimly lit; there is almost no Minecraft:glow lichen, with the only natural light sources being sculk catalysts and Minecraft:lava. No regular Minecraft:mob spawning occurs in this biome, but other mechanics are unaffected: Minecraft:monster rooms can still spawn mobs, and in very specific cases phantomsTemplate:Only, skeleton horse traps, pillager patrols and Minecraft:wandering traders along with their Minecraft:trader llamas can also still spawn here. Furthermore, the Minecraft:warden may appear if four shriekers are triggered, giving the player the Minecraft:Darkness effect.

While certain Minecraft:ores that are exposed to Minecraft:air blocks have a chance to not generate, sculk blocks are considered a solid block during generation, causing many ores to be revealed under it.

The deep dark is the only Overworld biome that Minecraft:lava lakes can't appear in, even if deep dark generates above Y=0.

If a deep dark were to generate at the surface, it would appear like Minecraft:plains with grassy terrain and sculk patches. Template:IN, the Minecraft:flower gradients also match plains, which allows players to grow flowers like Minecraft:tulips using bone meal underground.
