Toasts are informational text boxes shown on the screen. They typically show up when the player unlocks new crafting recipes, grants advancements, or a Minecraft:song starts playing, and there are informational messages which can be of any type.
Minecraft:Tutorial hints are also specific toasts that serve to teach the player how to play the game.
There are various situations where a toast is shown, each has different appearances or positions:
Gameplay:
When the player unlocks crafting (or smelting) Minecraft:recipes in Survival, if recipe unlocking is enabled. The toast cycles through the inventory icons of all unlocked recipes until it disappears.
When the game, in controller or touch mode, receives no input for 15 minutes and darkens the screen, an animated toast appears on the action bar prompting to press any button.Template:Only
When a friend joins a singleplayer game and the game unpauses. This toast has a "Play" button resuming the game.Template:Only
Certain news messages sent by Mojang Studios, like Marketplace offers.Template:Only Mostly replaced by pop-ups and Minecraft:Inbox messages.
After copying the build information in the legacy General settings to the clipboard.Template:Only
When receiving a Minecraft:party invite. This toast has a button to open the Party tab in the social drawer.Template:Only
When a joined party moves to a world or the main menu. This toast has a countdown bar, and a decline button.Template:OnlyFile:Party moving toast.pngA party moving toast
Template:IN, menu toasts can be opened by pressing Template:Control/tapping on it, which redirects to the settings tab or resource pack with the problem, opens the pack's technical details menu allowing to fix the problem, or opens the party invite/declines moving with a party. The duration of menu toast messages can be adjusted in the accessibility Minecraft:settings. Toasts can be completely disabled in the Minecraft:Editor.
Minecraft:Ore UI menu screens have a variant of toasts that are small, simple black boxes that pop up on the bottom of the screen with a Noto Sans text.
