Beta 1.16.220.50 is the first beta version for Minecraft:Bedrock Edition 1.16.220, released on March 4, 2021,<ref>Template:Cite</ref> which added the new mountain sub biomes<ref>Template:Mcnet</ref> and re-added glow squid related features.

Gameplay
Death messages
- Added death messages for being skewered by a falling stalactite.
- "<player> was skewered by a falling stalactite".
- Added death messages for dying from falling on a stalagmite.
- "<player> was impaled on a stalagmite".
Changes
Blocks
- Re-added the ability to change sign text color using dyes.
Ores
- Changed the textures to match Java Edition.
- Now has the correct size and rotation when held in hand.
- Now has the correct sounds.
- Now has the correct hitboxes.
- Are no longer destroyed by flowing lava.
- Jumping on a Stalagmite will cause half hearts of fall damage.
- Now drips Minecraft:water or Minecraft:lava into Minecraft:cauldrons if a source block is placed above the stalactite, and gradually fill the cauldron. Water drips even without any water above the block, but does not fill the cauldron.
- Downwards facing dripstone in the nether will create lava particles instead of water particles.
- Thrown Minecraft:tridents break pointed dripstone.
- Changed item texture to match Java Edition.

- The world height is now extended from 256 to 320 blocks.
- The lower part of the Overworld still borders at y=0.
