Minecraft:Book

A book is an Minecraft:item that can be used as a Minecraft:crafting material, or to store Minecraft:enchantments in a form that can be applied to any valid item using an Minecraft:anvil.

Obtaining

Block loot

Three books are dropped when a Minecraft:bookshelf is broken without using Minecraft:Silk Touch or Minecraft:fire.

Grindstones

Disenchanting an Minecraft:enchanted book at a Minecraft:grindstone yields a normal book and a small amount of experience (unless the enchanted book has a Minecraft:Curse of Binding or a Minecraft:Curse of Vanishing on it).

Villager gifts

Template:IN, librarian Minecraft:villagers throw books at players under the Minecraft:Hero of the Village effect.

Usage

Chiseled bookshelf

Template:Control the Minecraft:chiseled bookshelf while having a book in the main hand puts the book inside the chiseled bookshelf.

Enchanting

Books can be made into Minecraft:enchanted books by enchanting them on Minecraft:enchanting tables.
