Minecraft:Feature

Template:Distinguish Features (also known as generated features) are small decorators generated in each chunk after terrain generation. This page lists generated features in a Minecraft world.

Overworld

Aboveground

Feature	Description
Template:EnvLink	Boulder made entirely of Minecraft:mossy cobblestone found in old growth taiga biomes.
Template:EnvLink	Small island-like ice feature made out of Minecraft:blue ice or Minecraft:packed ice, and Minecraft:snow, found in frozen oceans and deep frozen oceans.
Template:BlockLink	Small blobs of Minecraft:blue ice adjacent to Minecraft:packed ice blocks, generating at or below the ocean surface.
Template:EnvLink	Minecraft:Ice on water and Minecraft:snow on blocks. Template:IN, it is technically not a feature.
Template:EnvLink	Tall spires made of Minecraft:packed ice found in the Minecraft:ice spikes biome. In order to generate using the /place command, the position given is required to be on a snow block and in an ice spikes biome.
Template:EnvLink	Minecraft:Disk-like feature of Minecraft:packed ice.
Template:EnvLink	A small, widespread feature that contains a volume of Minecraft:lava.
Template:EnvLink	Small circular patches of Minecraft:clay, Minecraft:sand (sandstone if above air), Minecraft:grass (dirt if under solid-material block or water), and Minecraft:gravel found throughout the world.
Template:EnvLink	Minecraft:Chest generated near the player's spawn if the "Bonus chest" option is toggled on.
Template:EnvLink	A 33 by 33 platform of Minecraft:stone centered on a block of Minecraft:cobblestone. Only generates in the Minecraft:void biome or the Void superflat preset at coordinates 8, 3, 8.
Template:EnvLink	A structure-like feature made of Minecraft:sandstone blocks and slabs which contains Minecraft:water source blocks and suspicious sand inside.
Template:EnvLink	A Minecraft:water or Minecraft:lava source block that generates on the side of a hill, cave or ravine.
Template:EnvLink	A pile of blocks that only generate in Minecraft:villages. There are 5 variants of pile: Hay, Ice, Melon, Pumpkin and Snow.
Template:EnvLinkTemplate:Upcoming	A small mound of Minecraft:sulfur and Minecraft:potent sulfur used to indicate the Minecraft:sulfur caves biome.

Underground

Template:EnvLink	A structure-like feature made of Minecraft:cobblestone and Minecraft:mossy cobblestone that contains a Minecraft:monster spawner and several loot chests.
Template:EnvLink	A rarely-occurring skeletal feature composed of Minecraft:bone blocks and sometimes also Minecraft:coal ore or Minecraft:diamond ore.
Template:EnvLink	Some Minecraft:pointed dripstone blocks generated hanging from the ceiling.
Template:EnvLink	Stalagnate composed entirely of Minecraft:dripstone blocks.
Template:EnvLink	A single stalagmite or stalactite composed of Minecraft:pointed dripstone blocks.

Template:EnvLink	A feature consisting of Minecraft:logs and appropriate Minecraft:leaves.
Template:EnvLink	Coral reefs are features that consist of Minecraft:coral, Minecraft:coral fans, Minecraft:coral blocks and Minecraft:sea pickles. In Minecraft:Bedrock Edition, the coral reefs can also consist of Minecraft:dead coral, Minecraft:dead coral fans and Minecraft:dead coral blocks.

Generation

Features are generated for a given chunk after the terrain has been formed. When features are generated, they can spill over into neighboring chunks that have been previously generated. Thus, a tree at the edge of the generated world may be overwritten by a village before the player reaches it. It is also theoretically possible for two worlds generated with the same seed, from the same version of Minecraft, to differ slightly depending on the players' travel routes, because the chunk generation order may determine which of two conflicting features overwrite or suppress the other.
