Template:Infobox block The wooden door is a variant of the Minecraft:door made of wood that can be opened and closed by the player without Minecraft:redstone.
Obtaining
Wooden doors can be crafted from any type of Minecraft:planks, including those found in Minecraft:the Nether. Different types of wooden doors can also be found in multiple structures in the Minecraft:Overworld.
Breaking
The suitable tool to break wooden door is Minecraft:axe. Template:Breaking row Wooden door drops itself when it's destroyed.
Wooden door also drops itself when its supporting block is moved or removed.
Natural generation
Wooden doors generate in some generated structures, forming the entrances to the majority of buildings. Wooden doors do not generate in Minecraft:zombie villages.
Oak doors generate as part of:
- Plains Minecraft:villages
- Minecraft:Strongholds
- Right-side-up Minecraft:shipwrecks
Spruce doors generate as part of:
- Taiga, snowy tundra and snowy taiga Minecraft:villages
- Right-side-up Minecraft:shipwrecks
Jungle doors generate as part of:
- Desert Minecraft:villages
- Right-side-up Minecraft:shipwrecks
Acacia doors generate as part of:
- Savanna Minecraft:villages
Dark oak doors generate as part of:
- Master bedroom closets in Minecraft:woodland mansions
- Right-side-up Minecraft:shipwrecks
Crafting
Usage
Template:Main Wooden doors can be opened and closed using a Minecraft:redstone signal, or by players, Minecraft:villagers, Minecraft:piglins, Minecraft:vindicatorsTemplate:Only, and Minecraft:copper golems. Wooden doors are also affected by the wind burst of thrown Minecraft:wind charges, causing them to open if closed, or vice versa.
In Hard Minecraft:difficulty, wooden doors can be broken by Minecraft:vindicators and all variants of Minecraft:zombies.
In Template:BE, Minecraft:drowned have a 10% chance to spawn with the ability to break doors, but if spawned as a Minecraft:zombie nautilus jockey, they never do.
In Template:JE, Minecraft:zombified piglins can break doors, but not in Template:BE.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>
Some doors have built-in openings that are useful for determining the time of day. Regardless of this, all wooden doors allow light to pass through them.
Barrier
A wooden door can be opened or closed by pressing the Template:Control Minecraft:control. When a door opens or closes, it immediately changes its orientation without affecting anything in the space it "swings through".
Some Minecraft:zombies can break wooden doors in Minecraft:Hard difficulty. Zombies have a 5%Template:Only/10%Template:Only chance to spawn with the ability to break doors. Vindicators spawned from a Minecraft:raid in Minecraft:Normal and Hard difficulty can also break wooden doors, but they do so only to reach targeted players, villagers, or wandering traders. Template:IN, some vindicators may sometimes open a wooden door instead of breaking it. Both zombies and vindicators attempt to break a wooden door only when the door is in its "closed" state; this is the case even when the door is placed in such a way as to allow passage in its "closed" state and block passage in its "open" state (for example, by facing sideways when placing the door).
Redstone component
Wooden doors can be controlled with redstone power.
A wooden door is a redstone Minecraft:mechanism component and can be activated by weakly powering any cardinally adjacent block.
When activated, the wooden door immediately opens. When deactivated, it immediately closes. Players and mobs can still open and close a door that is controlled by a redstone signal.
All methods of activating a door can be applied to either the top or bottom parts of a door.
Fuel
Overworld wooden doors can be used as a Minecraft:fuel in Minecraft:furnaces, smelting 1 item per door.
Note blocks
Wooden doors can be placed under Minecraft:note blocks to produce "bass" sound.
Air pockets
Doors Template:In can be used as air pockets underwater because they can't be waterlogged. They can also be used as air pockets in Minecraft:lava in both Java and Bedrock editions. A wooden door in lava does not burn.
Piston interactivity
A wooden door gets destroyed when a Minecraft:piston tries to push it. It can't be pulled by a Minecraft:sticky piston.
