Template:For Template:Infobox enchantment Blast Protection is an Minecraft:enchantment applied to Minecraft:armor that reduces damage taken from Minecraft:explosions and Minecraft:fireworks and increases Minecraft:explosion knockback resistance.
Obtaining
Blast Protection can be obtained from Minecraft:enchanting tables, drops from mobs that have spawned in a Minecraft:raidTemplate:Only, books obtained by Minecraft:fishing, librarian Minecraft:villagers, and in the following structure loot chests: Minecraft:desert pyramids, Minecraft:strongholds, Minecraft:ocean ruins, Minecraft:ancient cities, Minecraft:woodland mansions, Minecraft:pillager outposts, Minecraft:mineshafts, Minecraft:monster rooms, Minecraft:jungle pyramids, and from vaults in Minecraft:trial chambers.
Usage
Blast Protection reduces the damage the user takes from all explosions by 8% per level, and increases explosion knockback resistance by 15% per level. Blast Protection applies against the following sources:
- Minecraft:Fireballs shot by Minecraft:ghasts
- Minecraft:Creepers/Minecraft:charged creepers
- Minecraft:TNT
- Minecraft:Beds/Minecraft:respawn anchors
- Minecraft:End crystals
- Minecraft:Wither and wither skulls
- Minecraft:Firework rockets
- Minecraft:Wind charges and the Minecraft:Wind Burst enchantment
- Any Minecraft:damage type in the
minecraft/tags/damage_type/is_explosiondamage tag
The formula for damage reduction by explosions is Template:Cd, meaning that for every additional level another 8% of the damage is negated. The highest level (Blast Protection IV) absorbs 32% of the damage inflicted by any explosion. Template:IN, Blast Protection has the side effect of reducing knockback created from explosions by Template:Cd, stacking with multiple armor pieces.
The specific armor piece that Blast Protection is applied to does not influence its strength. For example, applying it to leggings does not cause the player's legs to be more protected against explosions than the rest of their body.
Damage reduction from Minecraft:Protection, Minecraft:Fire Protection, Minecraft:Feather Falling, Blast Protection and Minecraft:Projectile Protection stacks up to an upper limit cap of 80% (see armor enchantments). Any further damage reduction that would normally be applied is instead ignored. This cap can be reached with 10 combined levels of Blast Protection on the player's armor, or by combining 12 levels of Protection with 4 levels of Blast Protection.
Incompatibilities
Minecraft:Protection, Blast Protection, Minecraft:Fire Protection and Minecraft:Projectile Protection are mutually exclusive. Attempting to combine these enchantments with an Minecraft:anvil deletes the enchantment in the upgrade slot and replaces it with the enchantment in the sacrifice slot. However, if Minecraft:commands are used to force two or more of these enchantments on the same item, the effects stack. But when the total of the EPF provided by the protection enchantments surpasses 20, the rest of these enchantments will no longer directly reduce the damage.
