The mangrove swamp is a wetland Minecraft:biome populated with Minecraft:mud and Minecraft:mangroves where Minecraft:slimes, Minecraft:frogs, and Minecraft:bogged can spawn.
Generation
Mangrove swamp biomes are usually found in flat terrain near sea level in regions with very high erosion values, and they also replace Minecraft:rivers in these areas. Mangrove swamps never directly border the Minecraft:ocean, but their water bodies are often connected.
They generate replacing Minecraft:swamps in higher temperature zones, next to Minecraft:savannas, all Minecraft:jungles, and Minecraft:deserts, and less commonly Minecraft:forests and Minecraft:plains. Mangrove swamps are often surrounded by Minecraft:windswept savanna ranges. Within the biome, some higher patches of temperate land biomes may generate, allowing Minecraft:villages to touch them.
Description
Mangrove swamp biomes are a variant of the Minecraft:swamp biome featuring dense Minecraft:mangrove trees which vary in height. The floor is mainly composed of Minecraft:mud blocks with occasional grass block or dirt Minecraft:disks. Minecraft:Seagrass litters the bottom of flooded areas, and Minecraft:lily pads dot the water's surface.
Template:IN, unlike most Overworld biomes, Minecraft:mushrooms do not generate here. The grass has the same color as the normal swamp, determined by a Minecraft:temperature gradient, but leaves and vines have a unique light green tint, and the water is teal rather than gray. Warm Minecraft:frogs and Minecraft:tropical fish are the only passive mobs that spawn in this biome.
Additional Minecraft:slimes may spawn in mangrove swamps during the night, exclusively between Y=50 and Y=70. Their spawn rate is affected by the Minecraft:moon phase, spawning most often during full moon and not spawning at all during new moon. Minecraft:Bogged add an additional threat to the night, thunderstorms, or caves.Template:Only
Mangrove swamp biomes, alongside Minecraft:deserts and regular swamps, can generate Minecraft:fossils underground. However, Minecraft:swamp huts do not generate here.
Minecraft:Villagers that spawn in mangrove swamps get a unique swamp-themed look. While villages don't generate in swamps, they are commonly found bordering one with some houses in the biome. Otherwise, swamp villagers can only spawn by curing Minecraft:zombie villagers in this biome or breeding villagers here.
Underwater Minecraft:fog is thick here, making visibility lower underwater. With Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals, mangrove swamps use a strong humid volumetric fog setting similar to Minecraft:jungles, which fades the distance in an orange tint, and moonlight is colored more vibrant blue. Mangrove swamps have brighter blue daytime sky colors, and a slightly warmer color grading, but not as much as jungles.
