Minecraft:M.A.R.I.L.L.A.

M.A.R.I.L.L.A. or M.A.R.I.L.L.A, backronym for Minecraft Antiquated Robot Inadequate Loves Lying Audaciously, is a character in the official Minecraft YouTube channel voiced by Rill Askey, formerly known as M.A.R.I.L.L.A. Wex.

She hosted the series Minecraft:Ten Things You Probably Didn't Know About Minecraft and then co-hosted Minecraft:The Secrets of Minecraft, Minecraft:Around the Minecraft World in 80 Biomes, and Minecraft:How We Make Minecraft with Narrator.

Appearance

M.A.R.I.L.L.A. is an old box computer with a creamy tan colored base, dark brown casing, a green and white screen, a gray keyboard and a "Team Player Mode" switch on the back. A ROM cartridge with Template:MC on it can be seen sticking out and a joystick sits on the right side connected by a cable. She is able to run programs such as Minecraft on herself.

Personality

M.A.R.I.L.L.A. is lighthearted, sarcastic, confidant, and audacious. She is quick to give false trivia and can be a little superstitious but always does so with positive boldness. She likes Minecraft:endermen (presumably romantically), but doesn't like Narrator, in spite of constantly working with him on various projects.

Abilities

Being a computer, M.A.R.I.L.L.A. is able to compute large amounts of information, possessing full access to the internet and several applications. These include some that augment abilities not typically possible by computers, such as a program for crying.<ref>Template:YouTube link</ref> In spite of having a backlit screen, it does not constitute as Minecraft:light in Minecraft, due to her soul possessing great darkness.<ref>Template:YouTube link</ref> At one point she even claims to have the power to access every computer in the world, able to see any person's "other tabs" and folders,<ref name=":0">Template:Mcnet</ref><ref name=":1" /> later explained as her being a virus.<ref>Template:YouTube link</ref><ref>Template:YouTube link</ref>

During the first season of her show, she reveals that she has a "Facts Meter" that goes up every time she shares a piece of trivia. Once this is filled, she ends up "fulfilling [her] purpose," causing her to be permanently deactivated. However, this is instead shown to cause her to spontaneously teleport to some sort of Template:Wikipedia-like landfill full of other computers, which she manages to return from.<ref>Template:YouTube link</ref> She has also been shown to receive software update from an unknown source, with one adding features such as "M.A.X.I.M.U.M. M.A.R.I.L.L.A. mode."<ref name=":1" />

Biography

Pre-series

Supposedly, in the distant past M.A.R.I.L.L.A. was a human, who came into contact with a witch, potentially Minecraft:Baba Yaga. She was offered three magic beans, but ended up being tricked, her soul being trapped inside of a computer inside Minecraft:Mojang Studios.<ref name="witch">Template:Ytl</ref> At one point, she claimed to have been discovered in Minecraft:the Nether,<ref>Template:YouTube link</ref> but later claimed to have been found in Minecraft:the End.<ref>Template:YouTube link</ref> Another time, she claimed to have been created in Template:Wikipedia.<ref name=":0" /> She also claimed she gained sentience by being struck by lightning. She would end up being used for many projects prior to the company's official founding, apparently as far back as the 1980s, and was their first experiment in vocalization.<ref>Template:YouTube link</ref> At some point, she ended up being deemed obsolete and left to rot inside of a broom closet by Minecraft:Steve.<ref>Template:YouTube link</ref>

Desperate for a purpose, she would begin to make videos from inside, reciting various pieces of trivia from her own twisted perspective.

The Secrets of Minecraft

At an unknown point in time, M.A.R.I.L.L.A. began collaborating with Narrator on a new series where they explained Minecraft:the secrets of Minecraft.

After filming 2,893,000 episodes, the two agreed to be interviewed by Minecraft:Tom Stone.<ref name=":0" /> During this, she appeared to suffer bouts of amnesia, not remembering she filmed the show until it turned out they would only be releasing nine episodes, 0.00031109574835811% of what was filmed. Through the interview she frequently mocked Narrator, and suffered multiple hardware failings, before lying about one to get out of the interview.

Before the penultimate episode of the series, M.A.R.I.L.L.A. went on a vacation to a swamp. In spite of telling him about this several times, Narrator forgot, and believed she had been kidnapped by Mobbo. While investigating, he had become enveloped in a conspiracy by Minecraft:Mobbo and Minecraft:Jonathan Minecraft, while M.A.R.I.L.L.A. remained blissfully unaware.<ref>Template:Ytl</ref> In spite of this, the two proceeded to film their final episode together.<ref name=":1" /> During this, she received an update known as "M.A.X.I.M.U.M. M.A.R.I.L.L.A. mode," creating a digital avatar of a real human being, before discovering of the plans to add Mobbo. Wanting to prevent this at all costs, the two banded together to confront the developer trying to implement them, Minecraft:Jonathan Minecraft. They discover the conspiracy goes deeper than realized, with Jonathan weaponizing a machine to add Mobbo, successfully merging with the code before they could be stopped. With no other choice, the two heroes jumped into the machine themselves.

Around the Minecraft World in 80 Biomes

In the final episode of Minecraft:The Secrets of Minecraft, M.A.R.I.L.L.A. and Narrator learn that Minecraft:Jonathan Minecraft (Narrator's ex-husband)<ref>Template:YouTube link</ref> has been planning to add Minecraft:Mobbo into Minecraft using a machine that puts things inside Minecraft.<ref name=":1">Template:YouTube link</ref> Learning this, Mojang first sends Minecraft:Tiny Jens and Minecraft:Tiny Agnes as two incredible heroes. However, unfortunately, they both spawn in the middle of the ocean, so Mojang decides to send the less incredible M.A.R.I.L.L.A. and Narrator, as they're cheaper and agreed to accept Minecraft:Minecoins as payment.<ref>Template:YouTube link</ref><ref>Template:YouTube link</ref> So they go on an adventure around the world through many biomes to kick Minecraft:Mobbo out and save the Overworld, while also making a show that gets good ratings again.

This becomes the series known as Minecraft:Around the Minecraft World in 80 Biomes.

Relationships

Enderman

A frequent running gag is her infatuation with Minecraft:endermen. M.A.R.I.L.L.A. often shows affection and adoration for the Minecraft:enderman. She calls him a "total cutie!" and crashes from excitement when the enderman comments on her video.<ref>Template:YouTube link</ref> She even has a personal ship folder about her and Minecraft:enderman being together.<ref>Template:YouTube link</ref> However, in a later episode, it turns out that the Minecraft:enderman and M.A.R.I.L.L.A. went out on a date. However, according to M.A.R.I.L.L.A., the enderman teleported immediately after the bill arrived and never responded to any of her texts again. Later in that same episode, M.A.R.I.L.L.A. encourages a bunch of hostile Minecraft:foxes wearing Minecraft:diamond armor to visit that enderman for revenge.<ref>Template:YouTube link</ref>

• The introductory sentences has minor differences depending on the video, some being in the greetings: "Hello!", "Hello there!", or "Hello again!" along with the glitching. • M.A.R.I.L.L.A. is the second computer character in the Minecraft franchise after PAMA.
