Natural generation
Oak fences generate as part of:
- Regular Minecraft:mineshafts, as the uprights for the supports, where they are plentiful.
- Library rooms of Minecraft:strongholds as railings and chandeliers. In the latter case, there are many Minecraft:torches attached to them.
- Plains Minecraft:villages
- Minecraft:Woodland mansions
- Minecraft:Shipwrecks
- Minecraft:Trial chambers (a hidden chamber inside of the "Intersection 2" room)
Spruce fences generate as part of:
- Minecraft:Swamp huts
- Minecraft:Taiga and Minecraft:snowy tundra Minecraft:villages, where they appear in tables, animal pen, butcher and shepherd houses, lantern lamp post, and other buildings.
- Minecraft:Shipwrecks
Birch fences generate as part of:
Jungle fences generate as part of:
- Desert village armorer houses as the window.
- Minecraft:Shipwrecks
Acacia fences generate as part of:
- Minecraft:Savanna villages, where they appear in tables, animal pen, butcher and shepherd house, stilt house buildings, and other buildings.
- Minecraft:ShipwrecksTemplate:Only
Dark oak fences generate as part of:
- Minecraft:Mineshafts generated in Minecraft:badlands biomes, as the supports.
- Minecraft:Woodland mansions
- Minecraft:Shipwrecks
- Minecraft:Pillager outposts, as part of watchtower, tent, cage, and scarecrow.
- Minecraft:Ancient cities
Crafting
Usage
Template:Main Wooden fences have the same usages as nether brick fences to form barriers and attaching mobs with a lead.
Barrier
Wooden fences connect to other wooden fences, but do not connect to Nether brick fences. However, Nether brick fences connect to wooden Minecraft:fence gates.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>
Fuel
Overworld wooden fences can be used as Minecraft:fuel in Minecraft:furnaces, smelting 1.5 items per block.
Note blocks
Wooden fences can be placed under Minecraft:note blocks to produce "bass" sounds.
