Minecraft:Dark Forest

From SAS Gaming Wiki
Revision as of 11:04, 6 October 2026 by SyncBot (talk | contribs) (Sync: updated from Minecraft)

Template:Infobox biome A dark forest or roofed forest is a forested Minecraft:biome with dense leaf canopies that block sunlight, allowing hostile Minecraft:mobs to spawn and hide from the sun during daytime. Dark forests are one of the two biomes that Minecraft:woodland mansions can generate in.

Generation

Dark forests generate at moderate temperatures with very high Minecraft:humidity. As a result, they frequently border birch forests, old growth birch forests, old growth taigas, and pale gardens. Less commonly, they can border windswept forests, jungles, bamboo jungles, swamps, and groves.

Dark forests can generate in a wide variety of terrains, including flatlands, plateaus, coasts, cliffs, or mountain valleys. However, dark forests on plateaus and mountain slopes will often transition to pale gardens instead.

Because of their high humidities, lush caves frequently generate beneath dark forests. Inland dark forests may generate dripstone caves underground instead.

Description

Dark forests feature a much higher density of trees compared to other forest biomes, which oftentimes blocks direct view of the sky entirely. Minecraft:Oak, Minecraft:dark oak, and sometimes Minecraft:birch trees generate in these biomes, with Minecraft:leaf litter covering the ground. Minecraft:Bee nests are not generated with trees. Additionally, both types of Minecraft:huge mushrooms generate among the trees, though the red variants are more common. Unlike regular forests, wolves do not spawn in dark forests.

Unique to dark forests are Minecraft:woodland mansions, enormous dungeon-like structures that rarely generate within the trees. Woodland mansions are home to the dangerous Minecraft:evoker and Minecraft:vindicator mobs and are one of the only places where said mobs spawn. Mansions contain many rooms and valuable loot.

The dark forest has a unique darker sky color and atmospheric effects with Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals. Sunlight is also less bright, and volumetric fog is slightly denser with stronger light shafts.
